New Builder Wants Feedback

Hey everyone!

I’ve known how to code for a while, but I’ve never been able to finish an actual game because I can’t build or model. Today I’m starting to practice and improve at that, so I can finally release a game. I’d like feedback on my chef’s table design; I’m going for the look below, just in a wooden version.

This is what my table looks like:
Front

Right Side

Back

Left Side

Top

EDIT:
Added plates to the table:

I would like feedback on how it looks and what I can do to improve this design. Also, if anyone has any tips on how I can improve overall as a builder, I am all ears! Thank you!!

Heya @asher_dz

Noticed no one had replied so I decided to drop by :'3

Kinda has that 2017 build style to it!

Personally I think its good, an the fact that you want to continue to improve is even better :"D!

I whipped it up in 4 minutes;

Addition Angles +

You have good jist of how it should look – but some things I’d suggest would be;

Thinner legs, the top lip of the table to hang over so its not flushed with the legs itself.

If you want more definition to your things – I’d suggest you change the colors of them too!

Such as the entire table being the same color, really looks as one peice, if you have lets say the under section of the table a different value from the rest, like darker, then you can really see a difference in shape wise.

Or if you really want you can dupe them an extrude more to add brims an stuff

But you have to be chohesive with your things aswell, or it will look mitch-matched at the end! Such as if you have a highly detailed house, but with low poly assets inside :sweat_smile:

In your case here, you clould add more things – like mabye things on the plates or in the bowl, utesnils, stains, ect, etch marks an all that to really layer the detail

and best of all?

TEXTURES!

really go out with them, tool bar has alot of premade ones that you can easily put in – textures are easier to use if you’d want to tile the texture so it repeats / rather than a decal that strethces the entire image over your object!

(I know the ranting is insane :sob: sorry about that)!!!

But I hope this helps :"D – if you’d need anything explained dont hesitate you reach out!!

BYE!!!

Haha, no, this is perfect! Thank you so much for spending time out of your day to help me. I will definitely improve this design and anything else in the future 10000% more, because of you! I still need to get better at Blender, which I am working on :frowning: But I will get there someday! Have an amazing day, and yet again, thank you so so much!

Google search table, find something that looks good, try to replicate, ya done.
This table is fine but it definitely lacks depth. So do what I said above and you’ll get better.

Of course :"D! – it’s what I do best!

Blender is much more complicated than studio building alone – but overtime, you will get there :")

That I can assure you!

An thank you! You aswell.

Take care!

Well with all due respect, it’s not really as simple as that.

You can look at the mona lisa for hours on end – but still end up with something different. It will never be the same (MIGHT LOOK SIMILAR) but will always be indistinguishable.

Blatantly a bystander.

–this person needs helps, but they are never the one to jump in to save them

An just try to be supportive at least :sad_but_relieved_face:

Thank you! I really need to just practice a lot more! I will use google for examples every time :wink:

Yes, practice is what matters. Just a thing to look out for is at first you need to take inspiration. You can study how a table structure looks, the legs are usually a bit inside of the overall structure and the sides or the top is designed or clothed. Some tables have drawers or some just have blocks for legs.

I’ll suggest learning blender (if you don’t know it already) as it will help you INSANELY when you’re building.

Ok.

Yeah I really need to learn blender, I just never really sat down and focused. Maybe today will be the day. Thank you!

Honestly I get you. It can be really hard to get started. I mean I’ve been trying to use my electronics kit to make something cool but after a minute of saying “yeah I’ll do it tomorrow” I’m off watching youtube haha.

But, if you don’t want to use blender, you don’t have to! Roblox Unions are pretty good nowadays, they are better than what they used to be.

Thank you, haha I have been saying I will learn for a while now, but I always get sucked into something completely different😭. I really want to learn blender just everytime I open it up I get some sort of scared because of how much it is to take in. But I have a new found confidence that I can learn it and I will learn it.

Yeah, everyone even the most experienced of people face it. It’s just a human thing I guess lol.

But yeah, all the best!

Thank you, I saw your portfolio and you are amazing, so crazy that I got the two best people possible to comment on my post!

Eh I don’t call myself the best, there are certainly people that top me in everything. So don’t get any thoughts that “wow someone big replied to me”. Because even the biggest of people can turn out to be jerks. Completely irrelevant sentencing but you get the idea. But I’ve met some big people in my life and trust me, I’d much rather meet someone from the street and call him my best friend rather than someone who’s sitting at a CEOs chair.

This gives me 2016-2017 vibes when you played those games that let you decorate your own house. Ah the memories :smile:

Hi! I know it’s been a while, but I find the advice from you really helpful. I’m working on a conveyor model and wanted to get some feedback on it (attached below). Could you take a look and let me know what could be improved? Thank you!

@asher_dz

Pfff – dont worry about it! I am always here to help whenever I can! ^^

Thank you!! – makes me very happy to hear that :"D!!

The one you currently have is good, but the few things i’d point to is;

The neon yellow, I’d suggest making it like 0.5 or 0.75 even! – duplicated them an scaling them wider than the original can help create a cool depth effect to them, then it looking like a simple part!

If you really want more detail in it – I’d say things like side rails to 'em and vfx to the portals!

An then you can finish with something as such!

For the little orb . .. . points? – I still have no clue what they are called

You can do something like this;

Which you can also do some pretty cool tricks with too such as;

If you need anything else let me know! – cheers! :clinking_beer_mugs:
