First and foremost, please please please add an option to toggle the old UI back. Assuming this will never happen, here are my 2 HUGE requests for the new gen:
Coloring
Add more ways to color the background of the UI. The biggest issue, with me personally, is the coloring of dark mode. It’s too dark in my opinion. It makes the perspective feel off due to how dark it is. Changing the dark mode to be exactly how the old gen was, or allowing us to change the colors manually, would help A LOT.
Scaling
Another HUGE issue is how small everything is on the topbar. Simply just allow us to scale the topbar down or up exactly like the command bar. This would make the new gen a lot better. The buttons are so small it’s hard to see and click. Also the test, file, and everything at the top of the screen just seems so small.
i’ve been developing for around 6 years now. It truly hurts my soul to see the old one gone. It was so simple and easy to use.
Just add the damn option to turn off this and I’ll be happy, like old ui had everything and was truly easy to use, not confusing at all (for some people) and this ui confuses me more and more
The button scaling is a major one for me. My workflow doesn’t use hotkeys for basic tools like rotating and scaling, so I’m constantly clicking around the toolbar. However, with this new UI, I’m constantly missing the buttons and getting frustrated because of how small they are. Compare the two UIs and you can clearly see the issue, the top one being the new UI. (red box indicates selectable area, mouse included in images for reference.)
(I’m also finding other small issues with the UI like the absence of undo, redo, and save buttons in the top ribbon; the absence of an ungroup option in the group dropdown menu; the absence of the file button in studio’s top ribbon (exclusive to Mac users); just a lot of things missing that I’m not sure why they removed, but I digress.)
Overall, just please make the buttons bigger
[edit: I noticed there’s also significant empty space between and around buttons, further contributing to missed clicks. The old UI had practically no space between its buttons. Hopefully they can also fix this.]
I tried settings the Enableribbonplugin3 tab to true closing the fflag editor and launching studio then switching the fflag to false, reinstalling studio mod manger, and i tried the manual route too but it didn’t work
I’m very certain whoever made this new layout never once looked at all the dev forum posts about it, nor do they use Studio to begin with as they’ve managed to pick the worst shade of black imaginable. It is genuinely painful on the eyes and it makes no sense that this has been in beta for so long without ways to change any of the colors, especially with the robust script editor theme selector right there. Being stuck with these weird pastel colors almost makes blue light glasses mandatory for work.
Well, it is bad now, yes.
But they still can take feedback, understand the negativity towards it to make it better.
Give it few months maybe and they might fix it, but “it was a beta feature for over a year” is not a valid statement to force us to it, it is not an improvement…
You don’t get angry to negativity man, you fix it.
Why do people have to use programs to revert it back, what did this forced act accomplished if that is the result?
You can just give them the choice for a bit more time until you make it better. Does this act mean it is not being worked on anymore?
They’re removing the old UI for a reason, probably because it relies too much on old code or Qt.
Also maintaining 2 seperate UI’s would be a horrible decision.
god, the new UI is AWFUL
there’s no option to customize the stuff above the toolbar like I always had, there’s so much wasted space
I can’t friggin put my undo and redo and save buttons >:(
just tick wether compact toolbar or collapse tool bar is enabled simple
Can i just say everyone here is complaining for no other reason than i dont want to have to learn to navigate a more useful and more powerful interface i see nothing wrong with the New UI and ive been developing since earlier 2012 this is a vast improvement
the addition of the tabs has been useful i legit have all the custom plugins and tools i need organized
i have an extra tab for handling meshes
where my 3D Importer Asset Manager and Blender Plugins Are Stored
and my sound tab where i have my Sound Plugins built in
so i can easily wire up and rig the sounds in my game
