New material manager

Can you only override the existing x amount of materials. Like you can’t keep the default ones and create your own? You’re essentially limited to a max amount?

Yes you can overwrite the material or make a separate one, but I’m not sure about the limit about max amount. Are you talking about how much material you can create? If so then maybe? I’m not sure since I don’t really build that often.

Nah what I mean is that it seems like you have to use an existing material to create a new one. Like if I wanted a new material I’d have to overwrite for an example “brick” material. And I then can’t use the default brick material anymore.

So, you saying if you create a new material it will overwrite a default material and you cant use it? Well if it does that then just separate one, If you want to actually overwrite it and no longer can use it then just go to properties to any material, and set it overwrite, choose a material you want to overwrite, and then it would be overwritten.

What do you mean separate it? Like as far as I know, you can only overwrite existing textures. So I can basically just replace the default ones with other ones. But I’d like to make a library of textures and keep the existing ones.

I stand corrected, it turns out it just creates a new one beside the existing in the material manager. Sorry their tool is not very clear on that.
