[NEW!] Mini Dev Plugin — A tiny companion that lives in your Studio viewport

What’s up, Devs!
I have made a pretty fun plugin to add some liveliness to the workspace. I know the long development sessions can get a little lonely, so I’m happy to introduce Mini Dev, which puts a small version of your own avatar or a friend’s right at the bottom of your viewport while you work.

It’s a small way to add a little bit of personality to your workspace.

:sparkles: What it does

  • Pick it up. Click and drag your companion anywhere on screen; it dangles from your cursor and drops back down when you let go.

  • Poke it. Click it, and it reacts, then gives you a little emote, usually a wave.

  • It’s got your back. Every so often, it drops a motivational message and the occasional gentle reminder to save your work. Over 150 Messages

  • Configure it as you like. A settings panel lets you show a different avatar by User ID, toggle the messages on/off, and switch between Small and Big sizes.

  • Over 30+ Animations and more to come.

:hammer_and_wrench: Details

  • Runs entirely in edit mode — no need to playtest, it’s there while you build.
  • Lightweight and self-contained.
  • Your avatar auto-refreshes, so if you change your look it keeps up.

(Requires “Allow Studio Access to API Services” to be enabled, so it can load your avatar. )

Built this because I wanted my workspace to feel a little more alive, and figured other devs might too. Feedback very welcome — I’m planning to keep adding to it. :penguin:

Haha no, I assure you it doesn’t have that capability.

Thank you so much, that’s a great idea! I was also thinking of adding animations that use props! Having multiple avatars with that would be awesome. Have a little soccer game or something.

AAA This is adorable!!

I worked on something like this but for my pc itself!!

Virtual pets! Can throw them out of view of your screen or other monitor :joy:

Do you plan on adding more interactiona to ot lik idk feeding them ir something?

Whaaa, that’s so interesting!!! I want to add props for the avatar to interact with. I wrote a few down to include basketball, piano, a programmer’s desk, and a bunch more. Just have to work on the animations and models and figure out some of the viewport framing. But thanks so much, I appreciate you looking into my plugin. You have some amazing work yourself.
