[NEW] RIZE Pre-Alpha Showcase

FaixaIntro

Hey everyone!
We’re excited to finally share the first look at RIZE, a competitive FPS project we’ve been building together from scratch. The game is currently in Pre-Alpha, and our main goal is to collect feedback from the community to improve mechanics, balance, and overall feel.

RIZE is a fast paced arena shooter inspired by titles like The Finals and other modern competitive shooters.
It focuses on:

The RIZE Experience:
➥ Dynamic announcers that influence the match in real time
➥ Unpredictable events that shift the flow of combat
➥ Missions, emotes, avatars, and patterns to stand out from the rest
➥ Physics based interactions, varied maps, and fluid gameplay
➥ Customizable weapons, patterns, and progression
➥ Fluid movement mechanics (sliding, dashing, ziplines, platforms, jumpPads & doors)

:backhand_index_pointing_right: If you enjoy competitive shooters and want to be part of shaping a new project, come test it out and tell us what you think!

This is really cool, but can you explain what you mean by “Unpredictable events that shift the flow of combat”?

Events are temporary effects that appear mid match and change the pace of the game, like Low Gravity, Mega Damage, Infinite Ammo etc. They force players to adapt and make each match feel different. Thank you!

Congratulations on the alpha release, when I first joined I could tell the game has been worked on for quite a while. The UI is great and feels smooth. I didn’t have performance issues. I couldn’t test the gun combat since there was no one online and I was unable to play the training mode (i’m guessing it’s still wip tho). I like how the characters have voicelines, hopefully you’ll also add male ones and more variations in future (or maybe it’s already in the game and I couldn’t find them lol). The announcer was basically silent the whole time except at the start of a match so I imagine he only talks when certain things happen during the match with other players, and that’s fine.

From what I could test I believe there’s only a big issue, which is the loading time. When you play the game for the very first time it takes a while to get in. I think adding a skip button after a few seconds of loading would benefit users with low-end devices or connection. I had to wait 30 seconds to even see the main menu, and certain things weren’t loaded in the match (like sounds, the first time I used things like ziplines or threw grenades I noticed a slight delay).

I found only one tiny bug which is the camera getting blurred while holding tab when in the main menu, likely because of the match leaderboard system. Which by the way didn’t show up in the main menu, not sure if it’s supposed to show up or not but it didn’t. I saw the leaderboard button in the game but i’m unsure if that’s in regards to the current match or general player statistics (there’s a global button so I imagine it’s the latter).

A thing i’d add is a close button in the settings menu. When I wanted to close it I looked for a specific button but it wasn’t there. It shouldn’t take long for someone to realize they have to press G again but yeah a small improvement could be adding a close button in the settings.

And last thing i’d consider in future is adding an indicator for the grenades’ trajectory when holding the throw button, similar to what many other fps games have.

I recognized a map from the finals by the way lol, does the game take some inspiration from it? I recognized a couple of sound effects too. Anyways keep it up, the game definitely seems fun to play and I wish there was someone else in the server to try it with

You could definitely make the sights have parallax

Otherwise looks really good.

I really appreciate this feedback! Let’s go through the points, starting with the training mode, which is currently closed because we’re working on something more polished so it’s not just a common area. Regarding the voices, you’re right, they happen during match actions, adding more immersion to every action made by both the individual player and the team.

I’ll improve the loading time; I agree with you that it’s taking too long. Even though it’s essential, I’ll make sure to cut out unnecessary assets so it loads faster! As for the delay you mentioned when trying to play sounds for the first time, I honestly have no idea, could you share your machine’s specs with me? Possibly this depends on each machine (I hope).

Thanks for pointing out that blurred camera bug, I’ll fix it right away. And no, the leaderboard shouldn’t appear in the menu, I just didn’t notice that. Regarding the settings menu (G), you’re right, I’ll add a button to close it, which would also be ideal for other devices like Mobile in the future.

I agree with you about the grenade trajectory. I actually made a prototype in older updates of the project but ended up shelving it (I’ll work on that again).

Yes! Some maps do have references to The Finals, especially the assets. I also invite you to join our Discord server, possibly today we’ll be inviting people to play together. We’re working hard to get this project out there :flexed_biceps:

Really, I’ll possibly update all the sights with parallax effect, thank you for the feedback!

Your feedback has been addressed, everything is finalized for now. Thank you once again!

That’s a really cool concept, your game seems really cool. Hopefully it doesn’t get held back by the roblox algorithm like another fps game (cough cough frontlines)
