Just got into blender and created these two gfx icons, it looks to me like a lot is missing and I really don’t know how to add more flavor.

not great. it looks very grainy, the background is like weird, the split is also weird, dont have him wink, separate the eyes a little, better posing, don’t make it look like his arms are a big jacket, and yeah
there should be more lighting ambient (lightsaber affect lighting MORE!!!) and also better lighting and posing
