If you are facing slowdown while scrolling…
We have deployed a new version of Studio that optimizes the case of scrolling when most instances are the same (e.g. if you have instances A, B, C, and you scroll down to B, C, D, but not if those instances all change completely). We measured decent to extreme performance benefits for natural scrolling up and down in local testing.
To get it as fast as possible, follow these instructions:
- Close all Studio windows. Wait a few seconds.
- Open one new Studio instance, wait about 10 seconds, then close it again.
- Open Studio again and open up some place.
- If your Explorer’s title bar reads "Explorer (v0.374), you are on the latest version.
From then on, please just use Explorer as you normally would, scrolling like how you normally do (basically, don’t scroll up and down really fast to see if it’s faster–we optimized for natural scrolling!)
We have done extensive testing to ensure that this does not break anything, but if something goes awry please let us know (pinging me specifically might be one of the fastest ways)–I will update this post if we have to revert the changes.
Let us know what effect this has on your performance, and please provide microprofiler dumps of slowdowns if you find them to inhibit your workflow. These contain no private information and are safe to post publicly.
