Steps for crash: (i’m using macOS Tahoe)
- Have a plugin with word “setup” in it
- Open new (or any) experience
- Press Plugins from menu tab to open a vertical list of plugins (on top where file/edit/view/plugins/…, do not confuse with home/avatar/ui/… tabs inside studio). Press again to close.
- Switch to another app on mac (put studio on background)
- Switch back to studio → crash
Edit: Upon further investigation, it is because of my local plugin that contains the word “setup” in it. Basically if you have “setup” in your plugin name, the crash happens
Edit2: edited 2nd step, you need to open AND close Plugins menu for the crash

Hello hotdog, I too am on macOS Tahoe and was not able to replicate this studio bug, do you think it could be an issue with the plugin itself?
To verify the name “setup” in a plugin is causing this issue, copy the code below and insert it into a script, then right click the script and save as a local plugin. If it doesn’t crash then we can conclude that the issue is with the source code of the plugin associated with the name “setup”.
local toolbar = plugin:CreateToolbar("setup")
local button = toolbar:CreateButton("setup", "Studio crash test", "rbxassetid://10734944444")
i made a new local plugin with your code and it crashes. Are you following the exact steps i described? You need to press the Plugins menu on the top macos bar (opens vertical list), not the studio’s native ui “Plugins” button.
Edit: I tested a little more, you need to open AND close the “Plugins” menu list, so press it 2 times to open/close before switching to another app.
