I’m so hyped for the bloat fest.
I have a bind for ‘Autohide ribbon’, but it’ll be stuck and only go away proper once I put my mouse over it. I’d prefer if it was immediate like the old UI
It depends on what you mean. Today you can scroll the tabs pane but I assume you mean it also selects the tabs as it does it?
Yup, scrolling through and selecting them.
Made a ticket for this. Thanks!
Yeah we squished everything down way below our comfort level to see just how compact people like things. We’ll be sizing up the text a little bit and making other adjustments over the coming weeks (and also offering some simple options here for personalization)
Sorry if this has been asked before, but is it in the plans that this UI, in the near future, will support custom themes? Like basically give plugins the ability to interact with the different sections in studio, like changing the colors, fonts. etc. I feel like this would be possible since this is made in Lua (or I misunderstood something).
I am very comfortable with this text size on my monitor, so if this size was kept as an option I would be a very happy user
im not sure if i like the extra compact look of the toolbar, as someone with limited vision i find it somewhat hard to view the text on this new compact look compared to the other version, i feel it should be a setting somewhere to be in compact mode or not
Our long term goal is to have the UI in a state where it can be easily themed and customized.
For custom theming to work properly, we first have to migrate the UI to a unified styling framework. This includes ensuring consistent use of color tokens. This is no small task for 10+ year old application but this is what we are trying to do and focusing on the most visible and used parts of the UI first.
Then there’s the question of how we will expose this customization. It would mostly likely start with some JSON file override thing. But we’ve still got a lot of work to do, including just getting our own Dark and Light themes whipped into shape, and so I don’t have an ETA on when we would be ready to work on this.
Yes we agree. The current “ultra compact” font is too small and our design team is working on updates as we speak. We are also planning to offer the option between at least 2 density modes (plus labels on/off)
Loving the new dark mode colors.
One consistency issue I’ve noticed is that, most of the foundation has the new dark color for sure, but certain elements like the top menu buttons (File, Edit, View, etc.) are still on the old one, and the Properties window as well still use the old foundation colors. I’m assuming this will get fixed soon.
Also, can you guys change this blue selection color to a more… softer blue one? It really puts a toll on my eyes at dark.
it’s already July. it’s past early, mid, and late June.
[at least it gives us time to adapt to the next gen.]
Next Gen Studio never really released on a specific desired time before. It was supposed to release for the Opt-in beta in April 2024, then it got delayed to May, then June, and finally released around early July.
I think the same will happen. Though this time, it’ll most likely be out of beta in mid July. They recently got the new colors in from what I’ve heard.
Look at this post.
Ignore this: char limit char limit char limit char limit
I hope that they would fix the blurry text & icon issues before full release. This is a major pain point for me. One of the reasons that I still prefer the old QT UI for now.
Yep. We’ve got a big color update coming (hopefully lands next week) and the last time I saw it, we had softened the highlight color quite a bit.
We are still iterating on overall sizing and spacing. Can you share your desktop resolution and scaling settings?
Would you mind sharing your desktop resolution and scaling settings?
My laptop’s display resolution is set at the maximum supported resolution of 1920x1080p, the scaling rate is set to 125% (recommended). Additionally, my laptop’s display physical size is 15.6inch.
