NovaChat V1.0.6 - CHAT UPDATE PART 1 - A Modern, Feature-Rich Chat Replacement (BUGFIX)

what are these commands? how did you set up them?

i think he just auto loaded the default commands created by roblox, we chatted about it up a little but up

here it was talked about that here @ROILBPK

what about the age check stuff, i dont really want to implement it unless it covers that

there is already implemented a setting in config AgeGroups, which when is true it utilizes age groups

Whenever you have a different background color, it isn’t
Also Text Stroke doesn’t work

By default, Roblox creates a TextChatCommands folder and since Adonis can generate these commands, it will add them to the folder as shown:

From V1.0.4 and above, it uses sendAsync() so it will go through the age grouping correctly. You don’t have to worry about it unless your on an older version.

But honestly, I am against this age stuff. You could remake it to prevent Age Grouping.

Very nice chat system. From the examples of how the code works it looks clean and such
The ui could be improved similar to this old chat system
For example custom chat player icons

Having the chat be compacted or expanded based on a toggable button, and other features.
I modified mine to be able to do this and some other things and think it would be a great addition to what you currently have

Ah yes, Echochat, this definitely is a cool chat system.

But I feel that the classic New TextChatService look should still be preserved.

Also a bug is i noticed report button dosen’t work as ReportAbuse can’t be accessed by scripts

fixed by doing this

local btnReport = buttons.Report or buttons.CopyText
	connect(btnReport, function()
if targetPlayer and targetPlayer ~= lp then
			game:GetService("StarterGui"):SetCore("PromptBlockPlayer", targetPlayer)
			--Players:ReportAbuse(targetPlayer)
		end
	end)

Also noticed the reply dosent really do anything?

Also a fix for the action frame for other people was
Action.Init(screenGui.MainContainer.Parent.Profile, reactionsFrame, uiRefs, 400, ChatEvent)
you forgot to add width as width was ChatEvent

oh btw and you can now change size of the chat in game
changesize

I like the idea, but using that to make custom emojis sounds better I think…

Hey everyone,

I need to be honest with you all. I’m exhausted. Completely burned out.
For the past 5-6 years, I’ve been working on my projects alone. Scripting, modeling, designing, fixing bugs, pushing updates, managing the community. All by myself. And I’ve reached my limit.
My ideas don’t turn out the way I imagine them. Everything seems easier in my head, but when I actually sit down in studio or blender, it all falls apart. I spend 5+ hours struggling, and the results never match what I envisioned. It’s draining.

I’m tired of being a developer. I just want to play games like a normal roblox player, without constantly thinking about how things are scripted or what I could do differently. But once people know you can create stuff, there’s no going back. You become the “dev guy” forever.

So I’m taking a break.

I don’t know how long. Maybe a week, maybe more. I need to step away, clear my head, and remember why I started doing this in the first place. Right now, development feels like suffering, not fun. And that’s not sustainable.
Please don’t ask me about updates or new features for a while. I’ll come back when I’m ready.

Thank you for understanding. Take care of yourselves too.

i understand u bro, i’m a solo dev too. that grind hits different when it’s just you, your ideas, and a screen trying to make something actually feel right. it’s not always easy, sometimes it’s straight up exhausting, but that’s also what makes it special.

take care of yourself fr, don’t burn out chasing perfection. every small thing you build, every system you tweak, every detail you polish it all stacks up into something bigger than you think. people notice that passion, even if they don’t always say it.

you make awesome stuff for the community, and that actually matters more than you probably realize. keep going

Honestly, understandable. I feel you completely. Hope you come back feeling better.

I had to do the same to my games as well, so I completely understand. I wish you the best.
