NVRGN — Default R6 Mesh Compliance Guard

TL;DR: Prevents unauthorized client-side overrides of default R6 meshes. Works for both players and tagged NPCs. Enforces approved CharacterMeshes at spawn/respawn. This means that even if the player has modified their R6 meshes it will still show as the default mesh.

Why

With the rise of client customization tools, some experiences have seen inappropriate or unapproved edits to R6 characters. NVRGN provides a way to keep R6 meshes to roblox’s intended default look.

What it does

  • Server-side enforcement of default/approved R6 CharacterMesh parts
  • Blocks client-side mesh swaps by restoring the default meshes on spawn/respawn
  • NPC support via CollectionService tag (“__R6PATCH”)
  • Supports R6 packages and won’t override player’s packages

Example

Optional: use your own defaults

You can swap the mesh IDs in the included CharacterMesh objects if you want a different default look. Ensure your mesh is UV-mapped to the provided texture for correct results.

Setup

  1. Either swap out the Mesh Ids for your own or keep the default for each limb in the character meshes under the script.
  2. Put the script in ServerScriptService.
  3. Tag NPC models with __R6PATCH (or your chosen tag) if it uses the default r6 meshes.

Feedback

I’m open to suggestions and improvements.

would this work with bundles or would it overrided them with a blocky look?

should work just fine with bundles as it doesn’t override their meshid

this is a must for pretty much every decently well known game ever. tired of these people as well

Absolute gem right here, thank you op for making this. Hope to see less ppl using R6 character modifiers that are WAY out of Roblox

do you plan on making a r15 version?

as far as im aware i haven’t come across modded r15 avatars, do you have a link to this?

I assume this also patches out client-side modifications?
Very big W, even though I myself have my personal meshes for R6 (literally just the default blocky mesh but with smoother shading), this is definitely worth the trade off as at this rate I’m pretty sure there’s more people replacing their meshes into inappropriate content rather than normal content.

great resource. it upsets me with how normalized inappropriate modified avatars are to some users with the excuse of “because it’s funny”

You don’t have to worry about R15 modded characters, as that’s not smth you can do, you can only modify R6 as far as I know, so questions like that you can just forward em to this until we know any further

I noticed your 8.5k like post on X and got curious about the inner workings of this script.

This naïve approach assumes that exploiters who already have full access to the client can’t just listen for CharacterMeshes being added then swiftly delete them.

They can override the mesh ids in those very CharacterMeshes that your script creates or use their own file meshes or create fake parts that are welded (or even CFramed every frame) to the real parts while the real parts are made invisible (this is how morph scripts work).

Also, the example you quote tweeted shows a script that very obviously creates new parts with file meshes that it then welds to the torso, therefore it’s not a mesh that the CharacterMesh has an effect on.

Server-side has no way of knowing what the exploiter is doing with their client which means that this script fundamentally can’t solve the problem it’s supposed to solve.
Fighting exploiters is futile until Roblox does anything about it.
FYI bypassing your “guard” entirely takes just a few minutes.

thank you so much I NEEDED THIS

okay? this is just supposed to be a counter for the time being since I know that the people that use the mesh mods aren’t that technical most of the time. I have posted evidence of my script working with the exact methods used by others. If you actually tested my script you’d see that it works and it isn’t just “creating new parts with file meshes that it then welds” like you say it is.

“creating new parts with file meshes that it then welds”

This is referring to possible bypasses the exploiters can use.

Your script is simply copy pasting CharacterMeshes into the character which can be bypassed very easily by literally anyone who possesses a Lua executor and dex explorer or custom scripts they find on script kiddie forums / discord servers.

Bloxstrap mesh replacement is a very basic and limited method when so much more could be done so easily. Proof? Every day we ban lua executor users. Roblox anti-cheat does not work.

Even if you manage to patch one way, several others will be found and abused.

And at that point, they’re then a user that Roblox should be dealing with. Pretty certain the main concern with these kinds of client mods that change the R6 meshes is quite literally because it’s so dead simple to do that it doesn’t even require an exploit because you can modify local client files without it being considered a “modified client”.

This resource appears to solve that by replacing the limb meshes with AssetIds loaded from the web instead of a local file.

Roblox cannot deal with something they cannot see. It’s a client-side only exploit. Nobody else in the server sees those. Only the exploiter from their POINT OF VIEW see it just to make outrageous tiktoks out of it. This is going beyond the Roblox platform itself and we all know Roblox doesn’t care about off-platform activity.

Once a user is using an exploit, that is something their anti-cheat can catch. When they’re just modifying local client files, it’s not something they can catch unless they start validating signatures/hashes of these files, but that doesn’t mean it’s something that a developer cannot solve to at least make it harder for these people to do this without resorting to an actual exploit.

yeah but who would really go that far just to modify their avatar? i am very well aware that my patch won’t fix all avatar exploits i am just helping to cut down the amount of people that are currently modifying their avatars (as well as other people’s avatars without their knowledge). why are you so against the availability of my script?

I’m not against the script, I’m just pointing out the cons.
If it works for you, that’s great. If this problem is still happening, I told you so.
I’ve been on this platform for far too long to doubt what this part of the community can do.
