Odd ViewportFrame behavior?

Mostly in the title. I have the server clone my character into a folder in replicatedstorage that remains until that person leaves, and my main menu clones that fake character into a viewportframe for displaying cosmetics. Trouble is, neither the fake character’s hats or the armor I welded onto it show up in the viewportframe. I’ve tried various approaches, even briefly parenting the fake character into the workspace to see if the welds needed to be instantiated there, but to no avail.

Odd thing is, the explorer shows that the assets and armor exist within the fake, so I suppose it IS just a weld failure, but I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong here.
