One of my first GFX! Feedback/thoughts?

I spent a few hours on it, how is it?

My critisms.

  • A rig is not used, which makes it look very low-quality.
  • The background looks so seperate from the actual rendered rig.
  • The waving arm is going into the avatar’s torso.
  • There is no face?
  • The lighting needs to be worked on, I would suggest using cycles render.
Overall, it is a pretty good starting GFX, but it could be improved alot.

Thanks for the advice/criticism. I actually did use Cycles to render the image. What makes it look like it doesn’t? I actually removed the face to stylize it but looking at it, it does look quite odd. How would I make the background look less separate from the rig?

This is very good for a first gfx! Nice first try. The lighting is really great, most people butcher that but you did great. You should work on your posing, because it looks a bit flat and not much “shape” or “realistic” quality, but you did a nice job on the arm though. You should also work on your background, making it more asthetic with the lighting and color of your character.

What would help the background become more aesthetic with the lighting and color of my character? What colors would match this specific character, so I can get an idea of what it’d be?

I used a color pallet locator and changed some things around, so you can use this color pallet for the background.

I’ve changed the color of the background. How does it look now?

looks better but still, you should work on putting scenes or places instead of gradients
