"Open from File" can't open file paths with spaces with them, but only when creating a new window

As per the title, the “Open from File” option will incorrectly handle file paths with spaces in them, but only when doing so would cause Studio to create a new window to open the file in. For example, the path D:\Project files\foobar.rbxm results in Studio trying to open D:\Project and failing with an iostream error.

However, attempting to open the file from a fresh Studio window sitting on the homepage will work correctly. This is one of two workarounds, the other being that you can simply open the file from the Windows file explorer without any issue.

Reproduction steps

  • Open any place file.
  • Use the “Open from File” option.
  • Select any file that has a path that includes a space.
  • Observe Studio fail to open the file.

System information
Windows 11 Pro 25H2, Ryzen 5 5600, Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, 32GB RAM

Expected behavior

Using “Open from File” should open the file without issue even when creating a new Studio window.

Can confirm this is universal, happens to me as well.

this is happening to me pretty frequently too because I made the mistake of putting my files in a folder with a space in it

Still occuring for me on the latest release of Roblox Studio too.

This bug appears to have been fixed in Studio build 0.700.0.7000935.
