Yes, I know, website themes with extensions like Stylus exist, however they aren’t fully accurate and by far as of posting this the “2014-esque” theme is broken and no longer supported.

I decided to make my own recreation of the old website including a decorative Internet Explorer 7 window as a hub game where you can search for games by inputting their ID (like Rii Menu) and also favoriting them. There’s games like LegacyVerse and GoingTo2014 which also utilize the old roblox website as a hub but it is only used to play games within their own game, if you know what i mean, while this game I’m making will be used to join any existing game on ROBLOX which so far I haven’t seen be done before other than with the Xbox UI Launcher.

I’ve been completely reliant on Internet Archive alongside old screenshots for accuracy, been working on the entire thing solo.

Unlike Xbox UI Launcher I currently do not have a way of making it grab games off the front page.

The project itself is incredibly barebones with only basic features like loading and joining games with an incomplete game page as well as loading the home page with your avatar and friends. I’m not sure if I’ll go around to ever making this fully complete as this is just a thing I originally wanted to use for myself. Including that I also wanted to make a mobile app simulator for the game.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

UPDATE 06/06/2025: ratings (currently non functional until i figure out how to grab them) and game description , the url and tab text also dynamically change

UPDATE 07/06/2025: Added these tabs under the game page, got the ratings to work, updated the way the explorer tabs work a bit and added the footer thingy, currently the only idea I have is to have the recommendations tab show completely random games from a select pool. You can also go to games by putting their link inside the url bar.

UPDATE 08/06/2025: Functional recommended tab under the game page, it has no algorithm and just pulls game IDs from a table. Most functionality is still kinda jank but it does the job for now

UPDATE 09/07/2025: A temporary solution has been added for better mobile support, including better scaling of things with the window. Also added functionality to recent games where each time you join a game through this one it will appear on recents though it’s still a bit buggy

PS: I know this is a bit of a devlog but I’m also looking for feedback and opinions if you have any

I decided that I’ll be posting in replies from now on rather than editing the post each time

I’m considering expanding the overall functionality by adding the ability to view user profiles, groups, etc

still having trouble with understanding the roblox web api as I’m not really a web developer

anyway do y’all have anything you’d like implemented?

current things planned:

ads
favorites on home page
improved friend status
viewing full friends list
accessing full list of favorite and recent games
feed?
user profiles?
groups?

A full mobile app recreation will be worked on last as it’s a nightmare trying to get it right

Also if someone has a better understanding of the roblox web api for things like getting favorite games, front page games and games by a keyword query it’d be nice if I got some advice

I know about the need to use a proxy but It’s just the web api itself that’s pretty confusing for me

The game has been opened for you all to test

The functionality is still pretty jank, if it fails to load then it likely is due to a “too many requests” error, if it happens rejoin the game

This 2014 Roblox website simulator is INSANELY good, cool, and interesting! How long did it take you to make all of this for the simulator? It’s very nice! Will you continue with this?

You can now access all of your recent games

The page itself is somewhat improvised as I’m struggling to find any screenshots of the recents and favorites page

also the “Too many requests” error should no longer break the whole gui, it’ll just fail to load the recent games

Again, the recent games are only ones you’ve joined through this game specifically, at least for now

[11/06/2025] Did a slight update to the way games are loaded so they should now load much faster, I’m also going to focus on making the profile page before I attempt to do further things with the games page

[20/06/2025] More progress on the profile page, you can now view badges, groups and statistics though player badges and groups currently show a bit of them with badges only showing the first 10 badges you won, it also doesn’t give total place visits and only shows it added from the first 10 public games

also after i saw the xbox ui launcher game get deleted robux has been rebranded to kromer as it might have been due to the usage of the robux label with a fake way of “buying” it for free

[22/06/2025] Friends are now visible on user profiles and are sorted by activtiy, there is currently no friends page so you cannot view all friends until the friends page is actually made

There is now a fallback error page if something fails to load rather than having you go to the dev console each time to see if your page is going to load or not

you can also interact with other side bar and top bar buttons but since the pages don’t exist they give you a 404

you can also now (finally) hover over player badges and groups to see their name, though currently no group page or badge/catalog item page has been made but that’s planned

I originally used Explorer 7 for testing how well I could recreate a browser window in Roblox, I’ll either switch to Explorer 11 or let people choose their own browser like Firefox or Chrome

Not exactly an update but I just wanna say that the lack of updates was due to my current lack of motivations to continue working on the project, not to mention all the roblox limitations

this simulator is far from reliable, pages take very long to load and error often due to how much data each request grabs at the exact same time, not to mention my reliance on proxies like roproxy

I’m not certain if I’ll continue working on this, I might consider uncopylocking the project in case I completely give up on it. Thanks to everyone who checked this out and gave their opinions, cheers!

[05/08/2025] A rather small update after a long time of no updates but the browser design has been changed to Chrome 37 to better match the timeframe.

The tabs still don’t exactly work and the loading circle is still a placeholder vista icon. The refresh feature currently has no proper functionality until I get around to making it properly reload the page when you get a request error
