Opensource ROBLOX's Default R15 Animations

As a roblox developer i would like to be able to edit roblox’s default animations to fit my characters which are in A-pose and T-pose.

Opening your default character R15 animations would be a great learning resource for animators and would help shape characters better as developers gain more learning materials.

All the animations (including emotes) uploaded by Roblox are already open source - you can edit them by importing them into the Animation Editor in Roblox Studio.

If you only have the URL to the animation on the Marketplace, you do have to import the actual animation asset by running the following code in the command bar:

local ANIMATION_ID = 3360692915 -- get this from the animation's URL, e.g. https://www.roblox.com/catalog/3360692915/Tilt
game:GetService("InsertService"):LoadAsset(ANIMATION_ID).Parent = workspace

…then retrieving the animation object from the model that is imported into workspace.

Once you retrieve the animation object, you can copy its AnimationId (ONLY THE NUMBER PART), then import it into the animation editor in Studio.

If you want to edit the default character animations (walking, running, etc), you can join any Studio play-test, find your character in workspace, find the “Animate” script inside your character and find the animation objects you need.

After you find the ID from the animation objects under your character, you can import them into the Studio animation editor as shown above.
