Hi,
I’m currently working on a game which has a small city map with skyscrapers.
It’s kind of an Obby map so players will need to enter some floors of my buildings.
The question is: Should I make all my windows translucent (like real windows), even on floors which are not used? Or should I use non-translucent windows (see picture) for the floors which won’t be used?
Here are some pictures of the 2 possibilities. I don’t know which one I should do, tell me what you guys prefer!
You should probably use non-transparent windows for floors that players won’t access. I also suggest you try to make interior walls a different color/texture than the exterior ones for a bit of realism.
Don’t worry everyone have some difficulties at the beginning; unfortunately i cannot help you because i’m not a good builder i can help you with scripts if you need it.
make some of the windows neon, not entire rows just 3 4 here in there. but as structure, it looks a little lazy, windows don’t fix every problem, give it shape, give it depth and detail, if this is your first month or 2 of studio then that’s epic, but anymore then that you need to expand your horizons.
Those are actually my second ever attempt on building skyscrapers in Studio. I know the shape is a bit boring but I don’t have any idea on how I could (easily) make them look better. I like your idea of neon windows, I’ll try using them a bit randomly and I’ll tell you if it looks nice.
Btw, thank you a lot for your feedback!
Add lighting if you can, currently you are just using default studio lighting so the building is missing shadows and depth. Even just changing lighting technology from voxel to shadow map or something would make the build a lot nicer.
Hi, thank you a lot for this feedback.
I’m kinda new to building in Studio, I didn’t know about this lighting thing. I will definitely check tutorials and documentation about it!
So I followed your (@storeboughtbeef1 & @BaseplateB0T) advice.
I added lighting, it’s now more related to what type of game I want.
And added those neon beams.
