Hey, so I’ve been making a recreaction of a ww2 building for a dev project. I was wondering your thoughts/ideas on it, and maybe what constructive criticism you could give me?

Can you show a reference picture of what you were trying to re-create? I also suggest finishing the whole thing first before asking for opinions.

Oh, sure. It was a European style building. It was for a commission, just the front, but here is what the original is:

I think it needs some depth. The roof does not overhang the edges as it does in the reference image. Same thing goes for the trim around the building, I think it should be extruded out so it has depth.

Are you going to finish adding the fire hydrant and the streets lights, i would suggest you finish the whole building and show us. The finale picture of it keep it up man…!

For the building itself, Id add more of a strip in between the 2 floors, currently its too thin.
A simple indentation would suffice and look pretty good.
The brick detailing before the roof could be thicker as well by a small bit, seen here
Also, I’m not entirely sure about the roof; it might be the angle, but it looks much too shallow. Your tiny cupolas look fine for what they are though when talking about the roof.

As someone already mentioned, the building looks too flat. Some more depth would be nice. It also looks very thin in my opinion (atleast from the angle you took the picture in.) Make the walls wider. Apart from all that, I do like what you’re going for.
In my opinion, it is a very good recreation, but if you want to remake it the most similar possible, here you have some advices:
First of all, I would change the color of the blue part at the bottom of the building. It does not look similar at all comparing it with the real image.

Secondly, the curve above the windows is not exact at all. If you look at the image, you will see that the window also has a small curve, but in your recreation it is not shown.

Finally, the last suggestion is mostly an error on it. The windows that are at the sides of the doors are white, but in the upper floor they should not be that color. Instead, the should be brown like the rest of the windows.
