The following information in this article is outdated:
If you are a creator participating in the UGC program and your item meets the Marketplace Policy, you can upload the asset and sell it on the Marketplace for a fee.
The legacy UGC Program and its application-based process are no longer the current requirement for creating and selling avatar items on the Marketplace.
Roblox announced in April 2024 that Marketplace creation was being opened up to more creators, moving away from the previous application-only process and introducing transparent eligibility requirements instead. Roblox also stated that it would be sunsetting the legacy application process for joining the UGC Program:
Creators who meet Roblox’s current eligibility requirements can upload, publish, and sell Marketplace items without needing to participate in or apply to the legacy UGC Program.
As a result, the wording in this Help Center article may incorrectly imply that joining the UGC Program is still a prerequisite for Marketplace item creation and sales.
Please update this section to refer to the current Marketplace creator eligibility requirements instead of participation in the legacy UGC Program. For example:
If you meet Roblox’s current Marketplace creator eligibility requirements and your item meets the Marketplace Policy, you can upload, publish, and sell the asset on the Marketplace.
For additional context, please see Roblox’s announcement about opening Marketplace creation to more creators:
The current Creator Hub documentation also provides the applicable requirements and publishing process:
