Part disappearing when camera is inside

Hi, the issue is quite simple.

I have a part that I want to use as fog, and it has:

CanCollide = false

and

Transparency = 0.3.

For some reason, when I move my camera inside of the part, it seems that the part just becomes invisible. Is there any way to fix this? If there isn’t, can you suggest an alternative way to make area based fog?

Do you have any idea how rendering works?

If you have a part for fog, how would a player’s camera reach the fog?
Fog in my game is meant to create immersion and exploration. I have set the camera zoom to a fixed low value, so there is no way for the player’s camera to ever reach the fog sphere union.

I’ve probably figured out what your problem is.

Duplicate this part, next, make your new part smaller by 0.01 studs on each side, make it a NegativePart, then make it and your first part Union. This makes your block visible from inside and outside.

That is completely normal behaviour, if you want you could replace the part with a MeshPart, give it the same Properties you mentiond and set it’s DoubleSided property to True, that should probably make the effect i believe you are looking for. (I have no idea if MeshParts are heavier on performance than normal Parts so if you’re concerned about that ask someone else :wilted_flower:)

Thanks to all who tried to help. I figured out my own solution involving UI overlays.

Could you share your solution? I’d like to mess around with it in studio maybe i could do something with it too, please?

you need

  1. screengui
  2. frame scaled to fullscreen

andd then you have an ui overlay.

i mean what the full solution was, i know how to make that

Sorry for the late reply; I’m currently sick with Flu A.

I just detected every time the player’s camera went into a part, and if it does, I show the overlay, and when its no longer into a part, I hide it.
