I want the particles to only emit from the ring, not the entire union.
Which way? Your description is a little vague.
For the second one you could choose the Disk Shape and use the ShapePartial Property of the ParticleEmitter set to 1.
For the 1st one I’d say set the Shape to Cylinder and look a this ShapeStyle Property link.
People may read this post to help them solve the same problem they are having. Please let them know exactly what settings you used.
It may save them a bunch of time if they are trying to get the same effect!
For the heck of it I tried what you suggested but could not get either of them to work with the settings you mentioned… I think it has to do with the union . it would still emit inside of the ring.. ( I did two cylinders to make the ring)
I ended up just putting a bunch of attachments in the shape of the ring , to get it to look like an outward particle emit… which of course is not really just using the shape as the source for the PE… but oh well. ( I think it is because it thinks the union is still a square whole shape or something)
Then messing with it more I randomly got it to work with these settings..
also messed around with a mesh ring, which turned out nicely and smoother edges…
Yeah, that’s kind of what I figured with ShapePartial set to 1.
On the union itself try changing to PreciseConvexComposition
Youre using Cylinder shape instead of Disc shape on the particles
