I noticed free-use assets automatically added to my permanent asset permissions list in Creator Hub, even though I never inserted or used them in my experience. Team Create is disabled, and this has not happened in any of my previous experiences.
In Roblox Studio, before saving, the “Grant Permissions” popup appeared. All the assets listed there were my own, but the popup said I didn’t have permissions to manage them. Some assets show my old username, some show no name at all, yet all are assets I personally own and uploaded. None of the assets that appeared in Creator Hub showed up in this popup.
Steps:
- Publish an experience with self-owned assets
- Notice an unusual permission popup appear, showing my own assets
- Click on “Publish without Permissions”
- Open Permissions page in Creator Hub
- Find assets listed that I never inserted or granted permissions to
Note: I have not found a consistent way to reproduce this 100% of the time. I discovered this about an hour ago while viewing Creator Hub. I published my experience 5 minutes before that.
Expected behavior
- Only assets I personally added should appear in the asset list.
- Free-Use assets should not appear in the asset list, especially ones I never accessed or inserted.
- The “Grant Permissions” popup in Studio should correctly recognize my ownership of all assets and allow management, without showing my old username or leaving blank usernames.
I’m curious about a few things:
- Why are free-use assets showing up in the permanent list on their own, without me confirming anything?
- Could having these unused assets in the list cause problems with moderation? I’m really worried about it and can’t sleep thinking about potential issues (yes, it’s currently past midnight), especially with the fact that I can’t revoke any of these assets and that some of these assets are potentially harmful.
- Can Studio plugins be the culprit?
