hello there, (i’m not entirely sure i have put this in the right category so if i haven’t please do let me know!)
my aim here is to try and get a train that runs off a linear velocity, with a main body piece and two bogies connected by hinge constrained, these are then aligned to rails by gliders which per wheel include; a central circular glider between the rails, a circular glider at the top and one at the bottom.
I’m once again facing issues with roblox’s physics when building a train, the two biggest issues are the players being able to push the train pretty easily which shouldn’t be possible, the trains mass after a quick bit of adding all the parts masses up is 62378.566 (very heavy), and the players is massless. yet as can be seen in this video the player just by walking into it can make the train move.
aswell, i’ve noticed if the player sits down and gets up off the seat multiple times eventually the train will entirely fling out the map as seen in this video. i was doing it pretty quickly but the fact its happening at all is a concern. the seat part that moves has cancollide disabled and is connected to the rest of the train via a rigidconstraint
the last problem is when acctually accelerating, the line does use some gradients and alot of the time at these the physics will get stuck for a good few seconds (power is applied, and you can see the train budges in very slight bursts before properly setting off sometime later). this also causes quite an issue as it should move immediately, friction and elasticity on the gliders and any part in contact with these are set to 0.
i’ve tried a few solutions which dont seem to help that much, including changing player physicalproperties (which do nothing and cause the player physics to break) and adding a linearvelocity set to 0 with an unlimited maximum force, whch also has not helped this. if anyone knows how to resolve these please let me know!
thank you!
