I have recently been working on a game that utilizes the CreatePlace API, and my friend has just complained to me that his Feed (or is it Wall? I don’t bother with this facebooky stuff so much) is now filling up with “Qwertygiy created a new place: [name of CreatePlace API place]” and blocking out the legitimate posts.
Now, this may be a bit of a problem, because my place will eventually be able to logistically create over 200 million places through normal gameplay.
I suggest not logging in this way places created through the CreatePlace API.
Yep – this is a huge problem – especially for you. Others have suggested it in the past, but since the issue is so severe for you (since you’ll be creating the whole entire Earth), the admins might do something about it finally. For now though, you could try creating the place on an alt.
Just for your information, there’s a setting that lets you turn off feed notifications for new places. You don’t have to turn off the rest of the feed.
It’s nice for group shouts, well, not really when they’re kind of late. I know there’s a group shout notifier for chrome, but could we possibly get an official feature for this?
The feed would be more useful if you didn’t have to be a friend with someone to subscribe to their feed and if people could see how many people were subscribed to their feed. As for place creation, there isn’t a need for that (just because a place was created doesn’t mean it holds anything, and if the creator wanted it known then they could talk about it in the feed) – then it could be used for development updates and whatnot.
