As a developer there’s a lot of friction to testing my game online. I have to have a dedicated tab open, tab into it, click play, tab out to whatever other thing I was doing. I want to be able to click a button on the ribbon that opens Roblox Player to the game I’m currently editing. That way I don’t need to keep track of the tab and I can just close the player when I’m done.
A bit late but if I’m not mistaking or misunderstanding your goal, selecting “Server & Clients” instead of “Test” in the top left corner offers a similar experience where there’s latency to test things out instead of the default 0 ping Studio testing. Drawback is that this opens both a tab for the server and one for the client(s) (3 tabs in total) which might be hard on a lower end PC. Upside is that you don’t have to wait for the place to publish to Roblox every time you want to test something.
The chances are they want this feature because they are testing things that AREN’T available in studio and are only available in a live server that is being hosted from Roblox’s servers (the chat filter & MessagingService for example both only work in live servers)
Yeah. Your players play online, not in studio. The best tests happen as close to production as possible.
