Player has managed to claim ownership of a group I gave to my alt account

I was passing ownership of one of my groups to my Holder account, afterwards you can see another user managed to claim ownership somehow. At no point was the group abandoned, as you can see in the given logs. I have been through roblox support to no avail. This issue did occur 4 years ago and this post may be a bit late, but I am lost for help on how to fix this issue. Roblox has been of no help and keeps giving me the same automated message everytime I reach out. The user who claimed the group has managed to spend group funds I have earned.

4 years is a bit late to report a bug, but this is a really weird bug. The user didn’t seem to claim ownership but somehow promoted themselves to the “Owner” rank… This should be impossible, as groups can only have one owner.

I hope that Roblox patched this because this is a big vulnerability.

The user associated seems to have been collecting alot of groups which is highly suspicious

Most of the groups hes in is owned by him and doesn’t seem to have any past connection with that specific user (No past posts, shouts etc)

Yeah, I was back and forth with Roblox support for ages when it happened until I eventually gave up and accepted defeat on the matter. I recently came across it today when going through some stuff and thought I should raise the issue. Hopefully it has been patched by now.

Yeah, the user is quite odd. I’m guessing they just botted their account to claim abandoned groups in hope of taking any group funds. They posted a few shouts on my Roblox group in response to my attempts at reaching out.

However, they never responded to my messages on Discord after giving me their username. They have been taking funds though. I’m not too mad about the group funds, I can live without 47 robux, but the issue as a whole is quite annoying.

Hello, do you have repro steps for how to get the issue to occur? Do they reproduce if you try something like this today?

As for the specific instance you reference, you should approach this via customer support. Please only use the Developer Forum to report technical issues and not to get customer support issues resolved.

I believe I just simply transferred ownership to my alt account and woke up to find the group had two owners. I have transferred groups since then and the issue hasn’t repeated so I can’t be certain if it was a one time bug or something else. Hope this hasn’t happened to any other users but I can’t guarantee it hasn’t.

It wasn’t my intention to use this as a customer support issue, but I have spoken with Roblox support and was just given automated responses repeatedly telling me I cannot take ownership from other players.

Like mentioned in the post and in the reply you got, OP has already tried to contact customer support but has not received actual human help. I’ve seen some other issues about groups posted here, then shortly resolved by a relevant staff member. At the very least, please keep this thread up as customer support is not as reliable as you may think

This is a bit of a tough ask because this issue is four years old and we lack any repro steps. I’m not sure how our engineering teams would go about investigating the bug report. It would have been best to report this issue more closely to the time it occurred.

I’ll ask and see what we can do, but I would not expect any resolution here since there are no repro steps, and it may be too late for us to actually verify that what is claimed happened in this post actually happened.

Yeah, I agree that it’s tough since it was an issue that occurred four years ago. I’m not really seeking a resolution, the group is not of value to me but honestly there aren’t any viable repro steps I can give you. I just handed the group to my alt account like normal and then the Nox user suddenly claimed it exactly an hour later.

You can see the group wasn’t abandoned after giving it, so I’m just as lost as you are for how it happened. As for why it took four years, I was back and forth with Roblox support when it happened for months until I finally accepted defeat and thought it wasn’t worth fighting over when I could just make another group and call it a day.

Just a small update, despite this issue happening a while ago and customer support refusing to hear me out for years, Roblox’s new community update wherein Rank 255 can now be given to another person has caused me to lose all access to the group.

(See the former Owner group role)

I no longer have any permissions and formal ownership has been granted to this person after he somehow managed to claim a group that already had an owner, as evidenced in many of the photos I have shown previously. I’m not too bothered about losing access to the group itself but Roblox support refusing to even look into the issue or pass me over to a human representative is frustrating. I hope they improve their system in the future and create a formal process to reach someone who can actually communicate without automated messages.
