Players spelling out profanities on the client

Hello. In the project I am working on, I have a feature that allows the player to change letters on tiles. My intention is for them to spell out a code using this, allowing them to progress through the game.

I have concerns on whether action will be taken on the game/my account if the player spells out obscenities using this feature. For further clarity, this is entirely client-sided and the game is singleplayer. Will I get banned if I add this in the game unchanged?

if someone takes a screenshot of a no-no word on that board and reports your game with it, roblox will be an idiot and might take your game down or send you a warning

I think the situation is very muddy if it’s a singleplayer experience, or if the visuals are entirely on one client.

Clients can type any words into any textbox and never send it to the server, from the nicest compliments to the most vulgar profanities possible.

If it never gets networked, and isn’t shown to other users, it should mostly be fine in theory. The most you can really do is have it so that if certain characters are being shown (via a number identifier), other characters skip over intentionally?

Like stoneslabenjoyer said, they can take a screenshot of something bad they said on the board and report the game with it, an idea is having multiple 2-letter boards across the map and then having the boards labeled like “1” “2” “3”

Thanks for your input everyone. Separating the letters is the easiest option, but extraclear’s idea has merit.

More then likely a non-issue, I don’t personally see action being taken over this - Roblox is relatively clear in that any sort of text-input or broadcasted text from other players, needs to be filtered. Which in this case it is not: read below.

Seeing that this is completely client based, there is no real rule violation. Say you had a textbox, with a submit button, you don’t need to filter that, and players can type whatever they wish in to it. The only time you need to filter it, is if it’s broadcasted from the server to other clients.

If any text the player can write is only shown to them, you should not be moderated for such, if so then that would be a “critical moderation issue as exploiters can put stuff in the game that isnt actually there”.
Text shown to other players is what has to be filtered/such.
