[Plugin] Atlas Studio — Node-Based Procedural Terrain for Roblox Studio
Hi everyone! I’ve been working on Atlas Studio, a procedural terrain-sketching plugin for Roblox Studio.
Atlas Studio lets you build terrain with a visual node graph, paint local changes exactly where you want them, preview the result, and generate native Roblox smooth terrain and water—all without writing code.

What can Atlas Studio do?
Build terrain visually with nodes
Create reusable terrain graphs by connecting generators, modifiers, simulations, masks, material rules, and output nodes. Atlas only evaluates the nodes needed for the current preview or build, and expensive nodes display their latest evaluation time.
Available tools include Perlin, Simplex, Voronoi, Island, erosion and coastal erosion, curves, normalize, terraces, thresholds, blur, distance, slope, blending, and terrain-material nodes.
Preview before you build
Inspect your terrain as Height, Material, or Slope, or switch on the orbitable 3D Mesh preview to check the map’s proportions, materials, and sea level. Preview resolution is adjustable independently, so increasing preview detail does not change the final build density.
Paint local changes directly onto the map
Paint Mask nodes open in a separate dockable window. Paint over the height, material, or slope visualization, then use that persistent mask to blend terrain shapes or Roblox terrain materials.
The brush includes radius, power, blur, paint/erase modes, and undoable clearing. Paint masks are saved with the project, and each complete stroke is a single undo step.
Start quickly with terrain recipes
Atlas Studio includes prepared recipes for:
-
Temperate Forest
-
Rolling Grassland
-
Rocky Highlands
-
Island / Coast
Use a recipe as a starting point, then customize its graph, seed, dimensions, height, sea level, materials, and environment settings.
Keep multiple maps in one place
Create, rename, duplicate, and switch between multiple Atlas projects. Each map keeps its own graph, bounds, seed, preview settings, and paint masks inside the Roblox place, so your procedural source stays with your project.
Build native Roblox terrain
When you’re ready, connect Height, Material, and optionally Sea Level to the Build Map node. Atlas evaluates the graph at Roblox terrain’s 4-stud voxel density, then writes smooth terrain and water inside your configured bounds.
A typical workflow
-
Create a map or apply one of the included recipes.
-
Connect and tune nodes in the Graph tab.
-
Check the Height, Material, Slope, and 3D previews.
-
Paint masks for local shaping or material changes.
-
Set the map bounds and build the terrain.
-
Add roads, foliage, structures, and other finishing details with your usual Studio tools.
Atlas Studio also integrates its graph edits, parameter changes, node dragging, wire edits, and paint strokes with Studio’s undo history.
Important note before building
Atlas Studio currently replaces all of
Workspace.Terrainwhen you select Build Terrain. Save your place or make a backup before building. Rebuilding will also replace manual edits made directly to Terrain.
Roads, structures, landmarks, custom textures, and model or vegetation placement are currently outside the plugin’s scope.

I’d love to hear what kinds of terrain you create with it. If you run into a problem or have feedback about the workflow, previews, nodes, or documentation, please share it below, or reach out to me on discord at shmeatleyy!
