What is it?
Grammar Checker is a Studio plugin that scans your entire game and tries to find every type of text that is visible to players.
It collects all the text that players can see, as well as text that could be changed through scripts. For example:
script.Parent.Text = "Hello"
The plugin gathers all of this information into a prompt. You can then copy the entire prompt, including all the collected data, and send it to an AI chatbot such as ChatGPT. The AI can then help identify many of the grammar and spelling mistakes in your game.
How is this useful?
This plugin can be especially useful for small developers who aren’t very confident with English. For example, I often make grammar mistakes in my games and don’t notice them until someone reports them.
However, the plugin isn’t only useful for people who aren’t great at English. Sometimes, you can simply hit the wrong key on your keyboard and not notice the mistake. An AI can help catch those small errors as well.
Things to Be Aware Of
- The prompt can use quite a lot of tokens depending on the size of your game, so you may want to avoid using an AI model with expensive token usage.
- AI can still miss spelling and grammar mistakes, so the results aren’t guaranteed to be perfect.
- The generated prompt is in English, so it may not work as well for games that are primarily written in another language.
- This is the first plugin I’ve made, so there may still be some issues that need to be improved.
- AI was used during the development of this plugin.
- The prompt is made locally. Nothing is sent to a server.
- If your game contains a lot of text, the prompt may be too large for some chatbots. In that case, I recommend using a different AI model or chatbot that supports larger prompts.
How do you use it?
Open your game in Roblox Studio, open the plugin, and click SCAN GAME in the top-right corner. Then, wait for the plugin to finish making the prompt.
Once the prompt has been made, click SELECT ALL in the top-right corner. Copy everything that is selected and paste it into an AI chatbot such as ChatGPT in a new chat.
Hopefully, ChatGPT will then give you a list of mistakes, like this:
