Plugin search broken

Issue Type: Other
Impact: Moderate
Frequency: Sometimes

Date Last Experienced:

Reproduction Steps:

  • Find any plugin that you want to download into Studio
  • Copy and paste the exact name into the Plugin search in Toolbox
  • You will see random plugins that don’t match what you searched at all, and the plugin you searched for might not be there

Expected Behavior:
Plugins that match your search term should show up, and unrelated plugins should not. The website does not have this issue, and I would expect the Toolbox to show identical results to the website.

Actual Behavior:
Examples:

Toolbox does not find it:

Website does find it:

Toolbox does find it, but also shows many random plugins that the website does not show:

Workaround:
Using the website to find plugins, or using a direct link to the plugin (usually from DevForum). The only downside to this is that Studio has to restart for the plugin to work.

The plugin sort in the toolbox in Studio is curated and does not show everything available on the website.

Thanks for the report! This is a minor bug for sure but a bug none the less. We’ve filed a ticket to our internal database and we’ll follow up when we have an update for you.

I believe @PeZsmistic is correct here: this is a curated plugin sort (only developers in the “plugin marketplace” beta can have their plugins show up in the Toolbox). This is not a bug but an intentional product decision…

Thanks for your report! This issue will be resolved when whitelisted plugins are removed.
