[Plugin] Why You NEVER Finish Roblox Games

Most Roblox projects don’t die because of bad ideas or lack of skill.

They die because Roblox development has almost zero external structure.
No deadlines. No pressure. No consequences when motivation dips.

I kept running into this myself — so I solved it.

Pulse is a schedule engine for Roblox Studio that treats time as something you can actively reshape, not just plan and hope for.

Would it be a beneficial idea to add a streak system to get your users reminded of accountability?

I appreciate the suggestion and I’ve actually made a ton of productivity plugins in the past. I’ve made stuff like raw timers, things that have streaks/points for activity, etc. But the thing that I’ve honestly found is that life’s too chaotic to try to force rigid structures and it often backfires.

Like when I implemented streaks and points, they originally sounded good, but the truth is they easily slip into guilt-inducing / trying to force compliance. And naturally I pushed back which ended up not hekping.

What I’ve seen is that productivity tools work best when they adapt to your chaos rather than trying to gamify you into certain behavior. But I appreciate the feedback because productivity is truly really important in development

By the way do the videos on my post appear glitched? From my side they seem to be weirdly offplaced when I click play. That could just be a roblox devforum bug on my side though

I think it’s a forum bug

Why use this over Google/Bing Calender that also remind you of events on all of your devices?

I actually used calendar apps for this exact use case for a long time, and they were very productive for scheduling work around my energy levels.

The problem I kept running into is that real life is far more chaotic than a fixed schedule can handle. Sick days, holidays, school changes, oversleeping, my
mom asking for a chore or the bus taking too long. The moment anything deviated, the entire schedule became wrong.

I’d build a perfect summer schedule, then abandon it once school started. Build a school schedule, then abandon it when holidays came around. Even on a good day, waking up late or losing track of time during a break meant the whole calendar needed to be rebuilt or ignored.

Its a fair critism that pulse cant send phone notifications. But honestly thats just the limitation that comes with Roblox Studio. Its true you’ll need to keep track of work start times. But personally, using it myself, the benefit of its flexibility far outweighs that cost

Another benefit as well is the ai generation for schedules

Very nice idea. I am in the fence if I would use it - after work I do random stuff - whatever comes to mind. Saw your video, you have good points. Perhaps I should preplan everything.
Have dabbled in “time management” myself. Not preplan, but collecting history. You can check it out if want, google Tockler.

Things I notice in the UI that I would improve. And emphasis on “I” - so take whatever makes sense to you from my feedback

Firstly, It opens up like this:

And to be fair, I did not notice the Schedule docked window, only after seeing your video.
What I would do, is either make the calendar “frame” as a window like thing, that you can drag around and resize. Currently I don’t like it being so “fixed” / “static”.
Something similar I did in Click to Build Demo - Roblox

Or, make entire thing inside the dockable window - I prefer that - gives me full control. Perhaps some prefer it being in game window.

  1. First, the calendar is so small in my laptop, can’t see text. Perhaps more adaptable to different screens.
  2. Add some space (marked red)
  3. Make font sizes fixes, so now textScaled. And try to keep different font sizes minimal.
  4. Close button x I would replace a proper close icon image, or even if you find a “close” emoticon to be used there
  5. Would make it less contrasty - less black or white. Not sure what I don’t like. Perhaps dropdown bg lighter and Change Day/week divers bg a bit darker than dropdown bg.
Disabled buttons text lighter, so I can see what they are, but know they are disabled.
  6. Buttons toolbar border (where “Save As” and dropdown) with same roundness as black bg. Perhaps they even are, but visually they don’t feel like it. Perhaps if add some padding to left and right. And if that does not help, then lower roundness a bit.
  7. If calendar view is open the timeline dissapears from schedule:

First I did not know the timeline can be there, after I tried the close button. So I would add “Open Calendar” button to Schedule to explicitly open that window/functionality.
  8. Not sure what “No block” in schedule means. (later discovered you can make different blocks). Perhaps add edit button to No block, so i can change it in there.
  9. As I understand from your video when i click on task, it goes to done? I would still add a explicit checkmark visual to that. Still entire task can be clickable, but then it is clear what can be done with the row. And after clicking, I was not sure where the item went. Perhaps add completed Accordion to Schedule, where I can see completed items, or quickly go back and uncheck the item - like if I made a mistake.
  10. If I Edit Block, I have really small area to work in. Not sure how it shows on screenshot, but it is really-really small. In there I would change the colors, Text sizes to more fixed, 2 font sizes in there would be enough. Add paddings to “headings”, eg Tasks.

There are a lot of small things I find, And it is not good to type it all out.
But in conclusion:
Use consistent spacings, and make sure every component/text has spacing - enough air around it.
Use consistent font sizes. Not too much, if more variation is needed, change casing, or to font weight. Or different font color.
Use consistent and different styles on components. So a subheading would not look like a dropdown button.
And colors. I can’t say black and white theme is bad, but perhaps something about the grays that just washes the entire UI to a bland one.

I hope my feedback helps!

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate you taking the time to look at Pulse and point things out. I will definitely think more about onboarding and fixing some of the UI issues you mentioned.

For the concept itself, I honestly think it is underrated. A lot of Roblox devs either grind nonstop or burn out, and most do not really work with a consistent schedule. I was in that same mindset for a long time because grinding feels productive, and taking breaks felt lazy or like it was getting in the way. In practice though, breaks would just force themselves in anyway, whether that was getting food, drifting on YouTube, or opening a game for a few minutes.

After working in Roblox Studio for years, it started feeling kind of crazy how many projects I abandoned, and finishing full games felt almost impossible. The only things I could consistently release were plugins or smaller tools, since those could survive pure grinding in a way larger projects could not.

That is what made me start looking into it more. When I started reading productivity papers, the patterns they described lined up almost exactly with what I was already running into, like declining attention over long stretches, more mistakes, and worse decision making over time, which made it clear the issue was not effort or motivation but how the work itself was structured.

I get that a lot of Roblox devs do not think this way yet, so I am not surprised the plugin has not gotten a ton of traction compared to other platforms. That gap is honestly part of why I wanted to build it in the first place.

For the design and flow, I based it loosely on Apple’s Calendar because it worked well for me and it is already been tested by millions of users. You are right about smaller screens though, support there is pretty minimal right now, which is why some text can feel off in certain places.

Also, when you click a task it gets deleted instead of being marked as completed. That was an intentional choice, since I wanted the task system to feel as frictionless as possible so once something is done, it disappears and you can stay focused on building.

Thanks again for the feedback, I really appreciate it and I will definitely be incorporating some of it.

the reason why i never finished my roblox games:

  1. the awful new ui
  2. the chatting system being top priority
  3. the awful newgen studio (again :skull: )

Heads up guys the special offer for the plugin has 1 day left! Get it before Sunday 11th to get it completely free

What happens if I do nothing and I have something scheduled?

Nothing breaks. If you don’t interact with the schedule, it simply expires and the rest of the day continues normally. You can effortlessly adjust or reschedule it later if you want, but you’re never forced to respond in the moment

Make the widget gui able to be resized from the edges like moon animator and iris.
Make the gui look cleaner too its not an eye sore but its not pretty.

Update 1/10/26

@yusufnakh @BanuTheCat @trigophi

Changes:

  1. Better UI appearance on different screensizes
  2. Added Resizing (via corners) and changing position (via sides) to the main calander with preferences saved
  3. Stopped the plugin from activating during playtests
  4. Introduced plugin fee / Improved marketplace page

Thanks for the feedback, and I agree. Currently the plugin maximizes functionality / accessibility by using high contrast and a clear color scheme for drawing the eye, but can look ugly for serious users.

What kind of appearances are you imagining? Personally I feel like making highly stylized versions such as an anime, noob, etc could be cool. Although I would need a way to implement (and maybe I could monetize it like moonanimator)

What are your thoughts?

I feel like it’s kind of pointless; it’s not like anyone’s going to pay attention to it.
