Been playing around with something different. Took a look at how AAA games handle their animation sets, then wondered if any of that could survive inside Roblox. Spoiler: it can, with some stubborn effort.
I picked one of those detailed sequences from The Last of Us Part II—the weapon bench animation. Ripped it out, ran it through a clean retarget, and dropped it on the R15 rig. Didn’t expect much, but the end result looks solid enough to fool you for a second.
This isn’t for a project, not for a game I’m making, and definitely not for selling. Just curiosity. Wanted to prove that complex motion can exist here without Mixamo babysitting the process.
If I ever turned this into something bigger, maybe I’d shape it into a Factions-style system. But let’s be real—without serious scripting, it’s just a daydream.
Knowing that no one will see or respond to this, I’ll say this: Any questions or opinions you’d like to share? I’ll be here.
Wow that’s impressive! How did you do it when the average AAA game avatar has bones when r15 rigs don’t have bones? Did you port it or did you recreate it?
It’s not recreated. It’s the original animation, imported to R15. First, I reverse-engineer the .Psarc and .Pak files, and you need the skeleton—without it, nothing works. Export to .fbx.
Optional: I use a script to cut down the thousands of bones if your PC can’t handle it.
Then take an R15 rig, use the Addon Hat Tool with the animation and the base armature, and you’re set. Doesn’t work straight in Roblox; needs extra steps and double retargeting.
Wow, just wow I can’t even imagine how much effort you put into this especially if you call it “just curiosity.” That’s insane work
As a The Last of Us fan who dreams of making a movement system like this in Roblox, seeing this is genuinely amazing work
