At the moment we can currently post topics in the #platform-feedback area however we cannot post replies through the post approval system unless of course you’re a regular+
This sparks me as quite peculiar as if making a good topic is permitted through post approval how come a reply isn’t. Obviously if you made a mistake in your topic like I have previously the forum leaders are sometimes willing to move it into a reply however I personally believe the process should be made less complex and a post approval system should be in place for those of the member rank.
This would maker it easier for those that are currently emerging forumers to contribute their ideas whilst still being in a probation period if you like.
Indeed, this is why I believe we need a post approval system for platform feedback replies even if the demand would be considerably high and the fact it would take a while for forum staff to get through them.
With that being said, suggesting new features makes sense to not require any replies. If you agree with a proposed feature and want to support it, hitting like is good enough to signify that. If you don’t agree, then don’t like the post.
Sure it’s annoying but I can imagine feature requests becoming spammy - people want features and are willing to complain forever to get their point across. You can see topics like this in the Announcements category where things get out of control.
Some people may have something to add on the topic.
For example if a thread states ‘13+ Game Filtering’ or something similar it would seem quite broad so they may want want to expand on it such as stating why filtering is important, how it would protect users etc.
Replies are not always used in adamant agreement and instead it could be a conflicting agreement.
The owner of a thread may not always take your points on board and there is no point on making a new thread entirely if your views come across as different as that floods the forum and can make it confusing for users.
It makes sense as post approval will deem if your reply is adequate enough to be added.
Post approval is a rather difficult problema at the moment which I will briefly explain why.
As the forum grows, more people are using PA (Post approval) and therefor the team cannot realistically expand at the same rate as the forum, therefor they have to cut back in the catagories they can offer their service for.
It’s really a problem of management of resources and currently I believe the priority is getting the bugs / feature requests out there and anything else is unmanageable.
Personally I’m hoping for PA to be bought back to community resources, but alas, it’s not currently possible.
In my opinion however, replies to platform feedback posts are not really the highest priority things for members to be able to access.
