Premium won't always auto-renew even if account has enough credit

Despite having +$70 of credit loaded to my account, I got an email saying my $10 Premium 1000 subscription has expired. This credit was paid in advance to make sure that my avatar items would be available throughout 2025. If I was away to deal with life events, my entire shop would be forcibly closed down early until I returned to fix this.

This is the second time I’ve had to manually resubscribe even though my account had enough credit for the next billing cycle. I used to be on the $100 Annual Premium plan offered in December 2023, and had loaded my account with +$100 to cover 2025. The plan did not renew, and I had to go with the more expensive $9.99/mo price.

I enabled auto-renew on the account and redeemed a bunch of gift cards to raise my balance to €70 so I wouldn’t have to deal with it in the coming months. For the new billing cycle, I’m getting the 1000 Premium, which is like €11.99, so there should be enough.

But today I received an email saying my Premium expired and that my avatar items are at risk of being taken off-sale. The Premium renewal doesn’t use the account balance and isn’t working. It would be good if this could be fixed. Also, if you’re managing multiple accounts, this is like hell.

Thank you for the report. This is an acknowledgement message. We have assigned to our team for further review.

I renewed it, and now it canceled the subscription on its own. I’m not sure how that’s even possible, but it’s just me and a friend who barely checks the Roblox account. I asked him, and he said he didn’t do anything on the account.

Was waiting to see if I’d get a response from staff soon after the email, but my Premium 1000 subscription was also cancelled earlier today. I did not cancel my subscription.

I’ve had the exact same experience on two of my accounts (failed to renew late last week, and the newly purchased subscriptions both erroneously cancelled again today). I actually made another bug report today about this without seeing this thread, oops.

Hello. Sorry to all of the affected users.

There was an outage in the auto-renewal system, and we have since restored all of its functionality. we are listening to builders and we introduced a better system to guarantee that premium will auto-renew.

Regarding the subscription cancellation e-mail - when our system was restored, some cancellation e-mails got sent out late. The cancellation e-mail attached was for the subscription that was wrongly cancelled, not your new subscription.

In other words, your new subscription should be working properly, and should renew on time.

Thank you for your patience!

Hello! Thank you for replying!

Good to hear this should be fixed, but my subscription still says it expires June 10th. My subscription was cut once by the broken auto-renewal, and again by the false cancellation.

Along with that, I’d still be subscribed to the December 2023 Annual Plan if auto-renewal used the balance on my account. Is there any way to get that restored?

Hi Ivy!

It looks like your premium that should have renewed on 05/08 got accidentally cancelled on 05/10. On the same day (05/10), a new subscription properly started, and that is on track to renew successfully on 06/10

The e-mail that was sent late on 05/14 did not have any impact on your new subscription, and was a late notification of the cancellation of the original subscription on 05/10. In our system, the subscription is still active despite the ‘Expires’ header.

We will continue to investigate why the page displays ‘Expires’, It seems that it is in a bad state due to the late cancellation. I will keep you updated.

Regarding Annual Premium - unfortunately, the $100 Annual Premium plan is no longer offered.

Alright, thank you for looking into this! Will leave the subscription as-is, and post an update if it doesn’t renew on the 10th.

No longer offered as in everyone who was on the $100 Annual Premium plan had it removed after the year was up?

Hello, my Roblox Premium ended today w/o any interaction of my part, was subscribed to the third tier (27,99$CAD, 2200 robux monthly) using PayPal and I cannot resubcribe to the same plan says that I need to return to the merchant.

Is Roblox having Paypal problems? My PP account still works and I recently purchases robux from it 2 days ago and I have funds in my bank account

Hi! It looks like this purchase was rejected by the bank, although I can’t see any more details. On Roblox’s side we tried to renew.

Thanks for your patience! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if there are any issues.

Not sure if absolutely everyone has had it removed, but it is no longer supported.

That’s wild because I was able to do other purchases (renewing my domain for namecheap, dedicated server (at OVH) with my Paypal account. I’m sure Roblox reached a ratelimit (because too much peoples were using paypal to purchase robux for Grow A Garden?)

My account has no issues with other merchants, just Roblox. I attempted to purchase 500 robux and this time it didnt return an error and allowed me to proceed but I canceled it I dont need to buy at this time.

However, I resubscribed to Premium using giftcard balances, ima use this method for renewing (buying giftcards each month)

Today, my premium finally “expired.” I received the expiration email and the warning that all of my avatar items are at risk of going offsale, but when I checked the settings page and viewed my subscriptions, it looks like Roblox automatically resubscribed for me again, despite the settings page prior to the renewal saying it would expire today. I also received the Premium Stipend twice according to my transactions page, which is weird. I’m not sure if I was double charged for my premium because I let it draw from my account credit balance, but this is what I suspect happened due to this previous report. Really hope this whole thing gets sorted out, I can’t stress how worrying it is that my Premium could expire and every single one of my thousands of UGC items goes off sale, completely cutting off my income, and leaving me to have to manually put each and every one back on sale.

As of today my Premium subscription has expired, and I can no longer use Premium-exclusive features. Without manually restarting my subscription, my avatar items would be forcibly taken off sale on June 16th. Unsure if I should manually renew, in case there’s anything in Roblox’s system which says my subscription is still considered active.

Whatever fix was applied, the subscription just gets cancelled and instantly renewed — but why not renew without canceling :wilted_flower::broken_heart:

Pretty sure that after your Premium expires, they give you at least a week before you can get Premium again — I haven’t tested beyond that, but they allow quite a bit of time.

Nah, because Roblox charged me twice for a one-month subscription. ‘11 Tem’ means July 11, so it’s literally one month. Is this even legal?

Huh. Subscription restarted this morning, set to renew July 10th. Guess I’ll update if anything else unusual happens, but it seems like this is resolved for me?
