In high energy threads (especially in Updates > Announcements and Development Discussion), chaos can escalate quickly when:

- Misinformation spreads rapidly
- Users become anxious or reactive
- The thread tone becomes increasingly negative, and sometimes hostile.
Moderators currently lack a middle ground between silence and formal warnings/locks.
Evidence That This Approach Works
Moderators already use light engagement successfully when tensions rise. For example, a well-timed humorous response in a chaotic thread can:
- Reset the emotional tone
- Remind users that humans are moderating, not just enforcing rules.
- De-escalate tension before formal action is needed
- Build trust between community and moderation team.
