Proof of concept on a current project

Hey guys, I’ve been working on this project for the past couple of days and it’s at a point where I’m happy to get feedback on. Currently I’ve run into a wall with custom UI design so I’m hoping to get feedback or constructive criticism on the idea.

The project is basically a game in which you click on a mineral and it will mine the source from that mineral, Depending on the mineral rarity it may take longer to mine. You can carry an infinite amount of minerals but it will increasingly slow the character down due to being over-encumbered. The minerals gathered must be taken to a forge to be refined and only then can the minerals be sold.

Currently there is nothing to buy yet due to this being a very very early build. If you’re interested in playing a minute or 2 of the project here’s the link:

Hello!

I tryed to make a good feedback, hope it will help you ;

I like :

  • The build
  • The level system (To don’t get access to some minerals if you don’t have enough levels)

I don’t like :

  • The map is too small, and there is no invisible wall
  • The GUI
  • The way to get minerals

To improve the bad points :

  • Make the map bigger and add invisible wall
  • Try to design or hire someone to make a better GUI
  • About the minerals, you should delete the “ball” and add a rock, it can look really better

Extra note :

  • It look empty, you should add more content such as fight, pets, ect…
  • The game is really basic, and can be boring, you should add for exemple, a mini-game when you pick up minerals, or something like that.
  • The game is really quiet, you should add music. (And an option to mute/unmute)

Have a good day.

Hey bud, I appreciate you taking the time to have a look.

To answer your feedback: As I mentioned this is only a Proof of concept and really a test to see what I could do with the idea. I believe I also mentioned that I hit a wall with designing the UI and put a little note in game to say that the current UI elements are placeholders.

The “ball” mineral will definitely be changed to something that looks more akin to a low poly rock with different colored minerals inside or something (idk how to go about this just yet).

I like the idea of having a mini-game to mine and am already brainstorming ways to make it feel more interactive. The map will definitely be much bigger than it currently is with more details and decorations scattered throughout.

Again, thanks for taking the time to take a little look and sending feedback <3
