Provide ID & Age verification with eID

The current ID and age verification process on Roblox may raise privacy concerns because it requires users to submit ID photos and selfies.

An electronic identification (eID) verification option, which is mostly available in the European Union (maybe even more countries, not sure), would address this issue. It would allow for quick and secure age confirmation without sharing sensitive data.

  • Platform security: eID verification is PIN-protected → underage users can’t misuse other people’s IDs to verify.
  • Convenience: There is no need for ID photos and selfies → easier with fewer privacy concerns.
  • It might also save Roblox money compared to personal ID verification.

Implementing eID verification would improve Roblox’s security and user experience.

I am no expert in this area, but I believe this verification process has many benefits.

Unlikely to happen beacuse Roblox uses an external company that specializes in securely doing ID verification so it would be up to the other company if they allow the feature or not. You’ve also got to remember that in the other company’s TOS, they specifically state that you data is deleted once you either cancel or have done the verification successfully and the only thing Roblox get’s back is that you are ID verified and date of birth

Persona, the company Roblox partners with for ID verification, has multiple blog posts on their website that make mentions to eIDAS so it’s safe to assume that they very likely already have a service Roblox could use for verifying IDs in this way.
