How we’re responding to the new Creator Rewards system
Realistic Boiling Water Simulation Community
Hey RBWR community,
We want to take a moment to explain some upcoming changes you’ll be seeing in our games and why they’re necessary.
As many of you know, RBWR has never been pay-to-win. From the beginning, we’ve made it a priority to keep the game fair, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone, whether you’ve spent Robux or not. We currently only offer three gamepasses, two of which are priced around 20–25 Robux, and all of them are completely optional. You don’t need them to play the game any differently, they’re just quality-of-life upgrades for those who want to support the game.
Because of this low-cost, fair-access model, our main source of income has always been Premium Payouts, a system where Roblox rewarded developers based on how much time Premium users spent in their games. This worked well for us because we could keep monetization light and still sustain RBWR through community engagement. We were paid simply from Premium users playing our game for longer periods of time!
However, Roblox recently replaced Premium Payouts with a new system called Creator Rewards, and the result has been devastating for games like ours. In multiple 10-day periods under the old system, we were earning around 45,000 Robux. But in the first 10 days under the new Creator Rewards model, we only earned 13,925 Robux, a drop of nearly 70%. And we’ve done nothing differently. The player count, playtime, and experience are all the same — the system just changed.
Unfortunately, this means we are in the process of making tough decisions to roll out a few changes to help our community continue to make a positive income:
-
Increased pricing on some of our existing gamepasses, group clothing, and supporter roles.
-
Introduction of new higher-priced gamepasses, designed the same way as our others: completely optional, no competitive advantage, just a nice bonus for users.
-
Non-intrusive in-game ads placed around the map — these won’t interfere with gameplay, but they give us a small additional stream of revenue without requiring anyone to spend Robux.
NOTE: Nothing mentioned above is guaranteed and has not been implemented. It is currently under discussion.
We know this isn’t what anyone wants to hear, and believe us, it’s not something we wanted to do. But unless Roblox adjusts this system, we have to adapt in order to continue running the game, paying our team, and keeping development active.
This is an example of the criteria for a payout, made by knightmb1 on a devforum thread regarding the new system. “It’s extremely conditional on many things, and instead of the basically infinite payout possible from premium users, it’s limited to 5 Robux. AND, the lowest tier of premium doesn’t technically apply as a payer, as they need to spend a minimum of $9.99 USD.” DoctorCaduceus
We are still committed to keeping RBWR fair, fun, and non-pay-to-win. These changes are simply what we have to do to survive on this new system, and we truly appreciate every single one of you for understanding and sticking with us through it.
Thank you for your continued support…
