Publishing Game Roadmap?

Hey there! I’m sorry if this isn’t the correct place for this post. I’m developing a tycoon game, to warm up and also get the grip. I wasn’t here for quite a long time and seems a lot changed in meanings of publishing a game in Roblox. I have several questions in my mind related to this topic.

What is the roadmap of successfully publishing a game? If all technical details are done, how do you advertise, announce and attract attentions for your game?
What is an average required budget to successfully advertise a game? If the budget is limited, how do you build up on that and get more players as you go?
Do you suggest a fully functional completed game or a game ready for testing purposes? Should game be able to make money at first release or should you test mechanics with players first and see if they play enough and come back (Enough PT and Ret)?
What are suggested playtime and retention values to keep updating your game? And what are other statistics you would suggest me to check on?

I’d love any source of information that you can suggest to me too. Thanks for your time!

Social media is your No. 1 bet on getting successful, advertising on it is very good as you can practically do it for free, I would suggest opening social media accounts on platforms like YT Shorts / Tiktok. Any other platform won’t bring much success.

You could do it for free, and, if the budget is limited, open up a fundraiser game with actual use. A really good example is from RoBuilder’s fundraiser for his My Bike Life where he includes the actual motorbike system so there is reason to play. surprisingly, it has more players than the full game. (Which is on sale for 199 robux).

Definitely test it for at least 100 hours in total (as in total PT from everyone combined > 100h), I’ve had many failed releases cause i could not be bothered to test it fully. And when it’s ready for release, please make it a full game and not a testing purpose game because it will lose PT. and ret. soon (Because there are lack of features).

EDIT:

Also, please don’t buy testers, imo, they are a bit of a waste of your budget as you can just get the community to test it.

Update it no matter what, if updates do not bring the CCU up, then think of unique events, maybe a small live event that gives you a really good item if you join, or a fun seasonal event (easter, christmas, summer, halloween, etc.)

Great answer, thank you so much! I was thinking of leaving it half-done since it was a warm-up project for something bigger but after your answer, I decided to finish it up even if I don’t update it, to experience the launch process as much as possible. Also you opened my eye on advertising and budget gaining, thanks again!
