Question about getting permissions from UGC Creators. (Legal Documents or just a simple permission)

Hey, so I already have seen another thread about using UGC items in game, and saw that you can just DM them on twitter or any other social media. But I am wondering if that’s enough, do we need to sign some legal document in order to use them? What if they say “yes, you can use my items” and then proceed to take legal action? (I know most won’t even think of doing such a thing, but can’t trust nobody)

You just ask them a simple question and possibly get permission. That’s it.

Yea but its their IP, I don’t think a simple DM can help in a defense (if they take lawsuit) than a legal document. That’s my concern.

I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice.

Just from my limited understanding, having concrete evidence that they agreed should be good enough so long as you take down the content at their request. Maybe have them agree through messages on the Roblox website since those can’t be deleted. If they agree, but then ask for it to be taken down, and you refuse, that’s where I think there would be an issue.

Thanks, this is good to hear (I would much rather just remove their stuff from my game than deal with a lawsuit)

Also I am pretty sure in DM’s (twitter) you can only delete the message for yourself, but Ill just try to ask them to send a Roblox message agreeing to put it.
