[question] About Roblox Terrain

Hello guys I’ve always been wondering.

Is using too much Roblex terrain a bad thing?
And does it affect the user experience in terms of performance?
And is there a better way to make the game more realistic without a loss of performance?

Example:
On my map, there are 2.100.000 Voxels Approximately And sometimes it arrives 10.000.000

Is this bad or normal?
and What is the recommended maximum?

Your best way of knowing performance impact is with Memory Usage, not how many voxels there are.

In game, check how many mb your terrain is using up. If it’s a lot more than you think is necessary, consider scaling back or switching to Part-based terrain.

There’s no definitive answer we can give you since there are a lot of variables that you as part of the dev team need to consider.

I would say use a heightmap in a different software then import.

I find that terrain if done wrong can ruin a game and done right can advance a game when it comes to looks, it really depends on skill, after that I dont really thing theres too much terrain since ive seen GIANT games with terrain that goes on basically forever, obviously speaking itll be a little laggy when editing in studio but when playing it should run fine
