With the Age Requirements for DevForum & Community Forums update, or at least as of recent, private messaging Roblox staff has been disabled. This is a feature request to re-allow PMing Roblox staff members.
This might be intentional, as in the announcement, it didn’t explicitly note developers sending/starting PMs outside of bug reports. It said the following:
But it might also be a bug / unintended consequence of PM rules overall, where staff weren’t given an exception yet. Note that I’m 18+ age verified and can’t message staff.
In defense of keeping the feature, PMs can be used for sending or requesting information related to issues or bugs a developer faces. Something more casual than a bug report, but it sounds like there’s more to it than that.
For my own note, I’ve had many great conversations through PMs with staff. It’d be sad to see that ability go away for myself, but also everyone else who won’t have that ability as I did.
I agree with this request and hope to see this re-enabled soon! As a workaround, you can PM @bug-files and ping the engineer who is requesting the info, so they’ll be notified (as long as they’re in the group). You can also post a link to the PM if they’re having trouble finding it.
Quite interesting that you have decided to restrict staff messaging, any reasons as to why?
(The FAQ seems to just state that you can only reply and create bug reports to reach staff.)
you will still be able to talk to Roblox Staff on forum threads
You can talk to staff in public forum threads.
receive messages from Roblox Staff
Staff can initiate messages to you.
and send us private messages via bug reports.
When reporting a bug you can add private content, or you can message @bug-files.
This is a safety and administrative concern to make sure that all messages to Roblox pass through the right channels, so we can make sure that we offer the same service to all creators and that you are using the most efficient channel. Cold call messages to specific staff members is a poor, unreliable and unscalable way to get issues resolved.
