Realistic Shadow Softness

I apologize if this is the wrong category.

I am looking to know what shadow softness looks more realistic. I currently have it at 0.25 for pretty much all my games.

  • What are you attempting to achieve? I’m trying to get a realistic shadow softness.
  • What is the issue? I can’t seem to figure what’s the most realistic setting.
  • What solutions have you tried so far? I had searched for other posts regarding this. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything about this.

It really depends on the aesthetics of your game. I personally use a lower value of 0.15 to cast a sharper contrast onto the more complex models in my game. But depending on the map design, a softer shadow softness value could work just a well.
