Reason for sending friend request box for friend requests

I have my PMs set to friends-only to avoid being spammed. This is my friend request list:

I know both of the people who sent requests – they’re not my bestest of friends, so I wouldn’t put them on my friends list, but I do respect and value what they have to say. Unfortunately, there’s no way for me to know what they want to say. For instance, if I moused over this and clicked on “View request info”, I might see:

ArcticStand: “Hey, I know I quit ROBLOX around four years ago, but I’m back. Do you want to re-connect, old friend?”

DrCherryTop: “Hi. Do you want to go play Apoc?”

The “View Request Info” would be completely out of the way and you could ignore the requests without even looking at it, but since I have my PMs set to friends-only (since all I get usually are scripting requests / spam), legitimate people sometimes send me requests to get in contact with me. I have no way of knowing whether they sent it just for the sake of being on my friends list or because they actually wanted to get in contact with me. Plus, I’m curious as to why randoms send me requests sometimes. It’d be nice to have a friend request reason thing tucked under that accept/ignore cog.

There was a point in time where there were descriptions for friend requests, and I agree that they were removed back then because 95% of all friend requests either contained no message or contained a default message.

However, now with the restriction of 200 friends, this feature is much more interesting and I feel like it will be used more often if this kind of description were enabled again.

I like this. I want this.

I don’t think this is the right way to go about things. A better solution is allowing everybody to message you once again, except those who aren’t part of the current “Users who can message me” have their messages sent to a different Inbox. A good example of this is Facebook, they have an Inbox and an Other box. Inbox contains messages from Friends and Other contains messages from people that you haven’t connected with.

I’m not famous – I would have no issue reading through them all in one inbox. What I don’t want to see is “omg can you make me a fort for 2k robux?” “can you join my war group?” “can you make me a time-consuming script for free?” etc. Even with a secondary inbox, I would still be plagued by those types of messages. Friend requests I can mass-ignore and selectively view messages from people whose words I would potentially value. Friend requests are the perfect place for this – I can see who wants to get in contact with me and either get back to them or ignore them.
