Issue
When iPadOS 18 first launched, Roblox supported Apple’s Game Mode feature, holding a stable 60 FPS during long play sessions. After one of the past few Roblox updates (around v2.590.x), Game Mode support disappeared; there’s no longer a “Game Mode” toggle after launching the app and doesn’t appear in the Control Center, and Roblox now suffers severe frame drops (sometimes down to 20 – 30 FPS) after ~20 minutes of continuous play. For reference, I play on an 5th generation iPad Pro 12.9 inch on iPadOS 18.5, but I have also seen this on my iPhone 13 Pro Max running iOS 18.5.
Device Information
Devices: iPad Pro 12.9 M1 (5th Generation) & iPhone 13 Pro Max
OS: iOS 18.5
Note: This issue should be present on all iPhones and iPads devices running iOS/iPadOS 18 and over.
Steps
- On your iOS device (iPhone or iPad) running iOS 18 or later, install or update to Roblox v2.675.715.
- Launch Roblox and wait up to 10 seconds for the “Game Mode” banner to appear at the top of the screen.
- If the banner doesn’t appear, open Control Center (swipe down from the top-right corner) and look for the Game Mode toggle.
- Verify that the Game Mode toggle should be present but does not appear in Control Center.
Expected behavior
If everything were working correctly:
- Upon launching Roblox v2.675.715 on an iOS 18+ device, the Game Mode banner should automatically appear at the top of the screen within 5–10 seconds.
- The Game Mode toggle should also be visible in Control Center (swipe down from the top-right).
- With Game Mode engaged, Roblox should maintain a steady 60 FPS (or the device’s maximum refresh rate) throughout at least a 20–30 minute play session, with no significant frame-rate drops.
Game Mode is still present on the Mac client of Roblox, as seen by the attached screenshots below.
