Reintroducing Guests as Unverified users

As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to make a difference between Age Estimated/ID Verified users

If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my development experience because I would be able to know who is ID verified and who is not

In response to https://devforum.roblox.com/t/age-check-requirement-to-chat-now-live-globally/4226101?u=idelww, I think all unverified users should have their Displaynames restricted to “Guest [userId]”

I’m sure this would be a good change since it would bring back guests, a long loved feature of Roblox that the community asked to come back for years, and would also help developers to match “guest users” with each other in teamwork based experiences.

so whats stopping a verified user from setting their name to be a guest?

I can kinda see why this person is suggesting a feature like this.

In the FAQ, Matt Kaufman has already issued a statement regarding adding ways to identify who you can chat with in a later update. I doubt it’d let us see who verified with the facial checker or with an id. In the events of a data breach, having that kind of information is a disaster waiting to happen.

Also, I understand you don’t like the idea but I think it’d be better to just leave it at that than taking a jab at 'em.

Doesn’t have to be a displayname, i think it can just be Player API, such as Player:IsVerified() or something

I still don’t see how this would help with the whole age group thing. 21 year olds will still get matched with 9 year olds.

If you don’t like an idea, you should either ignore it or give some constructive negative feedback as of why it is bad instead of insulting people. If you aren’t emotionally prepared to read posts and ideas others have online, you shouldn’t spend your time here.

Resulting to insults and calling others peanut sized brains clearly shows your emotional distress about this situation and impulsive reaction towards an idea. I’m not going to waste my time on you and why I made this suggestion. Unless you have something of value to throw at posts, you shouldn’t be here.

This is an idea, a feature request which is addressed towards Roblox. The whole point of this topic is to get contructive feedback over why this is a good or a bad idea. Calling others not smart or brainless, doesn’t bring anything to this topic. Keep your posts and comments related to the topic instead of spreading out worthless toxicity

Honestly, I don’t think this is a good idea. Just because I don’t want to give my info to a shady tech company, I already don’t have access to chat, and beginning to remove my customizable features would honestly make me drop roblox.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I liked guests because my parents wouldn’t let me create an account on roblox, but they allowed me to play with a guest account, after they saw it couldn’t chat. Now I’m older and my parents don’t have that strict moderation on me anymore, but I don’t need to be made a guest again.

I think there are much better ways to go around this, like adding a Player:IsVerified (boolean) function, or making a verified symbol appear next to those who are verifed, but in my personal opinion, thia would be restrictive and drive old players that refuse to give info away, and possibly new people that don’t want to have to give their info to a brand new game that they don’t know about, when they can just go play the games they know. But idk i’m just not a fan of the idea ¯_(ツ)_/¯
