Hey all, 676 is out the door this Thursday, June 5th.
Today seems pretty quiet, no real gaming news and certainly no once-in-a-decade hardware launches from legendary gaming companies, so I hope everyone takes the time to check out the release notes.
This was mostly for Studio - built-in plugins create a lot of ModuleScripts. In my own testing this optimization dropped memory usage on the studio start page by ~100-120 megabytes and a bit more once you’re actually in an edit session (your mileage may vary).
probably a question that has been asked numerous times but I can’t find the answer, what does “pending” mean? and why you can find it on older versions?
There’s no better way to do it because “Live” isn’t so easy to nail down.
Consider that many features are tested out early with limited groups, or enabled on some platforms before others. If a feature is only enabled on Windows, do you then add it to the release notes at that point? It still isn’t live for everyone, but it is important to know about it.
Also, knowing about upcoming features that aren’t enabled just yet can be useful. Occasionally devs can bring up potential issues associated with a release note for something that isn’t live yet which lead us to adjust things.
