Rendering distance behaves differently with Graphics Quality settings

The following happens in all games:

If I set Graphics Quality from 7 to 6, the rendering distance keeps changing dynamically step-by-step, as shown in following images:

(7)

(6)

Graphics settings 8 - 10 do not change the rendering distance at all, as it seems to already max out at 7.
What happens next: if I set Graphics to 5, it COMPLETELY cuts all the rendering distance to minimal:

(5)
Changing it from setting 1 to 4 does not affect rendering distance either, similarly to settings 8 - 10.

System: Windows 10 Pro. Client/Server information attached below:

Expected behavior

Previously there was gradual rendering distance change with practically all graphics settings, but now if you go to 5 or below, it just snaps to minimum immediately.

Issue got patched today (could’ve been a temporary client issue, or specific places issue).

The bug returned after my client updated today (this is in another place):

this isn’t a bug, this is unironically how it’s been for years and is the exact reason why developers need to be able to enforce a custom render distance regardless of the client’s settings

by default, the player should be able to set render distance independently from the rest of the quality settings. roblox engineers have a built in fast flag that lets them get quality 1 at max render distance, so i don’t want to hear about how it’s “really complicated”. no other engine does this, we need control
