INTRODUCTION
Hello everyone, my name is CICH0L. Thank you for taking the time to read this post!
I aspire to make a game using Roblox Studio. Of course, the issue is that I’m purely an artist, and while I can make builds, gfx, and other such things on my own, code that isn’t CSS makes my head spin. (I switched my undergraduate from Computer Science to Philosophy for a reason.)
I lack a job at the moment and am going to further my studies in the Fall, so I am really reluctant to actually spend anything but time on this project, though I know it would be better to actually invest money in it instead.
That said, I wanted to get any feedback, advice, and generally comments regarding the idea of the game I am seeking to make. I would also love to hear suggestions about how to go about actually developing this. Any bit of advice helps! Thank you in advance!

CONCEPT / TL;DR
The player starts off in a basic apartment with minimal funds. Each player has an Android (Humanoid NPC… pet?) that starts off as a basic model with no skills or personality. The main focus of the game is to “raise”/develop your Android through the following ways:
APPEARANCE
Using in-game cash, players can buy clothing, hairstyles, and other customization options for their Android.
SKILLS
There are various skills which the Android can learn. The player can direct them to practice/develop said skills. Androids can then use those skills in various jobs or tasks in order to gain in-game cash, or unlock actions which they can do at home.
Example: Increasing Music skill increases money made from street performances as well as unlocking songs they can play on instruments at the player’s home).
PERSONALITY
The Android starts off with a “Basic” personality, which is bland and robotic. The player can increase various (invisible?) “personality stats” through dialogue.
Example: “Should I follow my mind or my heart?”
-
Mind (+logical)
-
Heart (+emotional)
Once the Android satisfies the requirements, their personality will change to reflect their personality stats, and their general dialogue (i.e. during a task) will also change.
Example: 100 Cute + 50 Gentle = “Sweet” personality
Basic: “Time to water the plants.” → Sweet: “I hope the flowers grow up big and healthy~!”
Note that actual personality types and stats are still in the concept stage.
STORY
Are you sad and lonely living alone in your small studio apartment, wondering where your flourishing social life has gone after you graduated and subsequently had to work to pay off your exorbitant student debt? Have you ever wanted to have your own child, sibling, or roommate with impeccable fashion sense, a perfect personality, and willingness to do mundane tasks for you without any of the difficulties actual human interaction inherently come with? Do you just have too much time and money on your hands? Whatever your situation, we’ve got the perfect news for you!
[INSERT GENERIC SCI-FI COMPANY HERE] has developed their first line of robotic AI companions! That’s right, you don’t have to be lonely, bored, or suffer socially anxious events ever again! Now you can just buy the ideal companion of your dreams! For the low low cost of 999,999,999,999,999
, you can also own a first-generation Android already pre-programmed to perfection–
–If only that would be the case. Instead, what arrives at your doorstep is a blank slate, soulless eyes staring back at you without a single thought in the world. You’re not sure whether this was a mistake by the company or not, but it looks like your Android has nothing but a generic T-shirt and a pair of pants. No skills, no personality; it doesn’t even have hair! (This is a problem only if you didn’t want it to be bald in the first place, of course.) But while it lacks anything that would make it a complete being, it does have one thing: the ability to be a complete being.
You can buy clothes and hairstyles for it! You can assign it to practice the skills you think it should have! Not only that, but surely the more you interact with it, the more you can shape its personality. Maybe you both can have a sense of companionship with each other along the way. So let’s get started!
FEATURES/IMPLEMENTATIONS
The following is a list of features/implementations that I’d like to add, in a general order of importance from most essential to least essential for the game.
- “Pet” Humanoid “Android” that is bound to the player’s account and is able to do tasks when ordered to by the player
- Android’s “Skills” which can increase via practice (think Sims or Bloxburg)
- In-game cash/currency system
- Jobs which Androids (or players?) can do to increase in-game cash
- Customization of the Android including clothes, hair, faces/makeup, etc.
- Randomized “Personality Dialogue” which increases a respective stat depending on which choice the player picks
- Several Pre-written personality types & their respective stat requirements
- “Home” that is bound to the player’s account and is able to be customized/furnished (via grid system maybe?)
- In-Game stores which sell customization items, furniture, and anything else
- Player-to-Player trading
- Bio for the Android that you can fill out and other people can see when clicking on it
Of course, this is by no means a comprehensive list, since I’m sure more ideas and issues would come up during development.
CONCLUSION
So a lot was said (above) and there are big ideas, yet nothing to show for it yet
Still, once again, I would love advice and suggestions! Thank you for your time!
