Explicit assets and malicious code have always been present within the Creator Marketplace / Toolbox. I think verifying age via ID should be required alongside the other requirements. It would significantly reduce the amount of explicit assets and assets with malicious code by preventing them from being uploaded. This makes it easier to crack down on existing assets.
Benefits:
Makes the Creator Marketplace more professional
Reduces models and plugins that violate ToS
Increases safety for users on the platform, especially children
Decals, audios, etc don’t really matter because they can’t have scripts in them if obtained from the Creator Marketplace and the AI moderation works fine (for them) as it is. It’s easier to moderate an image and an audio compared to moderating a plugin or model that can have hidden code.
I’m taking this under the assumption that this is not serious, but regardless I’m going to write a serious response.
Just no. I was a plugin developer and I would have never ended up making plugins if there was an ID verification restriction (yes I am ID verified and yes that was for Plugin Marketplace, but let’s just move past that). I get that you have good intentions since this has been a problem in the past for the marketplace (no idea if it still is), but this is not a solution. It’s just going to hinder newer (or privacy conscious) creators from developing useful items/tools for the platform for safety. There are other ways we can tackle safety, such as better moderation or a reporting system that actually works.
yea no this is an even worse idea than roblox adding dating to their platform
this wouldnt even solve the problem at all since people can just come back with the same id and repeat offenses. games can also be uploaded with tos breaking items pretty easily. i could open up studio rn and upload some bad imagery in a build and theres a 99% chance it wont get taken down just cause roblox’s ai moderation is genuine buns
